POSITION SUMMARY 
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial health and operations of 
United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN). This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit 
accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial planning &amp; analysis (FP&amp;A). The 
CFO will work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and Board of 
Directors to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and achieve its mission. 
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION 
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below: 

Financial Management: 

 • Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and policies. 
 • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, 

balance sheets, and cash flow statements. 
 • Experience with accrual-based accounting. 
 • Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations. 
 • Manage the organization's budgeting process, including forecasting revenue and expenses. 
 • Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement through FP&amp;A and KPI 

tracking.

 • Oversee and ensure timeliness and accuracy of payroll, retirement, and benefits processing. 

Grant Management: 

 • Manage the organization's Government, Corporate, and Foundation grant portfolio, including 
providing budgeting aspects required for grant writing, reporting, and compliance. 

 • Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant reimbursement requests. 

Risk Management: 

 • Identify and assess financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate them. 
 • Oversee internal controls and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. 
 • Ensure the organization is ready for internal and external audits, including Single Audit and 

Variance control criteria. 
 • Manage Vendor negotiations and contracts. 
 • Review and approval overall contracts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT 
The incumbent may have some local travel (10% - 25%) via personal vehicle. The environment for

 Job Title: Information &amp; Referral Specialist Reporting To: Client Services Manager 

 Department: Contact Center, 2-1-1 Orange 
County Position: Full-time/NON-EXEMPT 

 
Purpose of Position 
The primary purpose of the Information &amp; Referral Specialist at our Contact/Call Center is to assess each caller’s 
needs and accurately refer them to the appropriate health, human and/or social services agencies from the 2-1-1 
Orange County (211OC) resource database. We achieve this by educating expert working knowledge of the 211OC 
resource database and its management software, advocating, and empowering each caller so that they are 
provided with great customer service. By the end of each call, clients are one step closer to receiving the assistance 
that they need. 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
 • Provide information and referral services to clients contacting 211OC through the helpline, email, texting 

methods, outreach events, or any other means identified by 211OC management as official I&amp;R channels. 
 • Perform in-depth screenings and assessments, collects client information, and encourage clients to apply for 

entitled benefits. 
 • Connect clients to appropriate resources, empower clients, de-escalate upset clients during crises and/or 

situations of abuse, trouble-shoot for additional options. 
 • Educate clients on available services to ensure it best fits their need and empower clients to choose the 

services they feel are most appropriate for their situations. 
 • Follow-up with clients in critical situations to ensure they received the assistance that they needed. If not, 

provide them with additional resources and help. 
 • Provide warm-transfers to appropriate crisis response teams in critical situations to receive help including 

Domestic Violence, Suicide, and Behavioral health hotlines, fire, and police departments. 
 • Assist callers with different languages by using the Language Line. 
 • Develop an expert working knowledge of the 211OC’s management software including Community 

Information Exchange database, telephony, softphone, texting, administrative systems and other approved 
software. 

 • Troubleshoot unavailability of services through expert knowledge of navigation of the 211OC’s resource 
database and through teamwork with other I&amp;R Specialists and the Resource Department. 

 • Assist clients in problem-solving when no services are available which can meet their needs. 
 • Other duties as assigned. 
 • Assist with compiling monthly and bi-annual program reporting. 
 • Advocate on behalf of clients who have been denied services. 
 • Troubleshoot basic technological failures. 
 • Performs other duties as assigned.

Future of Work Action Lab, a dynamic initiative aimed at addressing workforce gaps and 
enhancing economic mobility for historically marginalized communities. 
 
The Director will lead facilitation, stakeholder engagement, measurement and evaluation, 
and project management efforts. This includes integrating the Customer-First 
Measurement (CFM) tool, convening cross-sector partners, managing grants, and driving 
regional workforce development strategies. 
 
Core Responsibilities 
Action Lab Leadership &amp; Facilitation 

 • Co-design and co-facilitate Future of Work Action Lab convenings to drive regional 
workforce solutions. 

 • Engage key stakeholders, including corporate partners, workforce boards, nonprofit 
organizations, educational institutions, and local government. 

 • Ensure that Action Lab discussions translate into concrete, scalable initiatives that 
result in Triangle residents accessing high-wage, low-barrier careers. 

Customer-First Measurement &amp; Evaluation 
 • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the CFM tool to assess 

the impact of Action Agenda grants and workforce initiatives. 
 • Collaborate with research and evaluation partners (e.g., Duke Clinical Research 

Institute, RTI International) to measure community-level data changes. 
 • Use data insights to inform program adjustments, refine grantmaking strategies, and 

enhance service delivery models. 
Support Strategic Stakeholder Engagement &amp; Movement-Building 

 • Support Chief Executive Officer and Chief Program Officer in cultivating and 
maintaining high-impact relationships with industry leaders, philanthropies, 
workforce development organizations, and policymakers. 

 • Partner with Aspen Institute’s Workforce Leadership Academy and the Charles Koch 
Foundation and others to align national best practices with local workforce needs.
