Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions 
 
The major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: 
 • Models the attributes of respect, trust, sensitivity and confidentiality to callers, volunteers, and 

coworkers. 
 • Demonstrates competency in the field of peer recovery, including: 

o Actively implementing the values, philosophy, and standards of the Recovery Peer Specialist. 
o Modeling relationship building based on the tenets of peer support with callers, volunteers, and 

coworkers. 
o Attaining certification as a Recovery Peer Specialist within the required time frame of hire. 
o Provides care coordination services via telephone, email, IM/Chat, and in-person to 1st 

Responders/ Veterans, including: 
o Advocates on behalf of 1st Responders/Veterans and families to access federally funded and 

private organizations to meet basic and related service needs. 
o Conduct comprehensive needs and service assessments via telephone, email, or IM/Chat. 

• Assists clients and agencies with problem solving to arrive at helpful solutions. Types of calls will

Guided by the overall strategic vision for the Financial Security Impact Area for United Way of the Plains, the Financial Empowerment Program Manager will guide community members as they navigate to financial stability. This full-time position will be responsible for delivering financial education, digital financial literacy, and financial coaching/counseling to the community. As part of this work, the Financial Empowerment Program Manager will participate in and lead community engagement activities, as assigned, with both the Free Tax Filing Services Program and the Bank On ICT Coalition.&nbsp; Through the involvement with these two programs, the Financial Empowerment Program Manager will convene and collaborate with area financial educators to close gaps in financial services and resources to the community.&nbsp;Successful applicants in this role will possess strong interpersonal skills. In this role, you will assist with the daily operation of our&nbsp;<a href="https://unitedwayplains.org/give-items-of-value/" target="_blank">Give Items of Value</a>&nbsp;(GIV) warehouse. The GIV program accepts in-kind donations from local companies and national retailers that are available to nonprofits for free. Donations range from office furniture and supplies to housewares, hygiene items, holiday décor and much more. Last year, 280 nonprofits visited GIV and obtained over $3 million worth of free goods, which helped lower their overhead expenses and funnel more financial resources into programming to meet the needs of their clients.&nbsp;Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, following all safety protocols.&nbsp;</li><li>Communicate effectively and positively with not-for-profit agencies, volunteers, and local donors; build strong relationships.&nbsp;</li><li>Regularly consolidate, refill, and adjust locations of merchandise in the warehouse.</li><li>Support warehouse staff with volunteer groups, donation pick-ups, and duties needed for accurate inventory control.</li><li>Perform outbound counts for the items being obtained by the non-profit agencies.</li><li>Assist with various other tasks necessary to ensure GIV program is successful and impactful.&nbsp;</li></ul>Requirements and Qualifications:<ul><li>Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday during normal business hours; however, some flexibility is required to occasionally be available early mornings, evenings or weekends</li><li>Position is carried out primarily in a warehouse environment.&nbsp; Extended period of standing is required, along with ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
