This role will work in close partnership with the President and Chief Executive Officer and leverage the CEO's expertise and experience to drive the organization's strategic policy agenda. The position reports to the Chief of Communications and Public Affairs and will manage the public policy strategy, coordinate governmental affairs at the federal, state, and local levels, and mobilize stakeholders in support of UWMB's public policy priorities. The VP of Policy and Governmental Relations will work with colleagues on the Community Impact team to ensure alignment of the public policy strategy to the needs of our communities.Key responsibilities include strategic oversight of UWMB's public policy priorities, management and coordination of outreach to elected, government and civic leaders, and collaboration within the Public Affairs team to build political and public will for the policy agenda through communications, messaging, storytelling and mobilization of stakeholders to implement the strategy. The Vice President of Policy and Government Relations will be expected to work with offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Secretariats within the Executive Branch and the Legislature. The Vice President will also work collaboratively with United Way Worldwide in addressing policies at the federal level that affect the UW system and engage with local leaders (Mayors, Superintendents of Schools, etc.) in key focus communities. The Opportunity 
 
United Way of Marathon County is seeking a high energy and compassionate individual to make a 
difference and join a progressive team that is dedicated to achieve ambitious community and 
organization-wide goals. The organization is highly successful and regarded as a leader in supporting 
the needs of our community. The success is attributed to strong staff and volunteer leadership and a

The United Way of Marathon County has a total budget of $3.7 million and includes a staff of 17. It 
operates an eight county 211 call center, promotes volunteer engagement, maintains the Community 
Closet, and spearheads the Marathon County Hunger Coalition and Housing Taskforce. Roughly 
$900,000 of the revenue is raised outside of the annual campaign. The United Way also has an 
endowment that is maintained at the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin. 
 
To position itself for the future, United Way of Marathon County conducts regular strategic planning 
processes to set strategy and direction. In 2022 our organization elected to change our Mission to 
“Uniting to Thrive” with our Bold Goal of Lifting 10,000 Community Members to Financial Stability by 
2033. The organization is focused on impacting our ALICE population, convening the community 
around common goals, investing in best practices and engaging donors and stakeholders in its work. 
Examples of progress and accomplishments include: 

 • As of March 2025, we have achieved helping 4,443 community members to reach financial 
stability. 

 • The Community Closet served 1,550 unique households since re-opening in July 2023. 

 • Along with our funded partners we have served 16,288 community members since we 
changed our Mission and referred 7,289 members to other services in the community. 

 • The 211 Call Center is accredited and receives more than twice the national average number 
of calls as a % of population. 

 • Dedicated volunteers contribute approximately 7,400 hours in support of United Way each 
year, demonstrating a strong commitment to community engagement.

Position Summary: 
The United Way Office Coordinator and Receptionist is the first person who interacts with the 
people we serve, partners, and anyone who calls, emphasizing the importance of someone with 
strong customer service skills (bilingual in Spanish is preferred and a plus). This person 
maintains the smooth operation of the office and provides excellent front-facing support to 
visitors, including those we serve. In addition to handling the front office and phone calls, this 
person also processes mail, prepares bank deposits, tracks and processes monthly invoices, 
orders office supplies and ensures the office is welcoming and inclusive for both the staff and 
guests. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach are 
essential. This position is someone who promotes a positive, productive, and safe work

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 
 

 • Front Office Reception and Customer Service: 
o Answering phone calls, schedule appointments, phone transfers, or providing 

callers with information needed, including taking messages when necessary to 
ensure they get connected to the right staff person. 

o Provide resources and referrals to callers using the 211 community resource 
database for direct service connections. 

o Greet and welcome visitors with a positive and professional attitude. 
o Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area, ensuring the office reflects a 

welcoming environment that anticipates the needs of both visitors and staff. 
 

 • Office Coordination: 
o Oversee day-to-day office operations. 
o Ensure the office is well stocked with supplies, ensuring timely reorders. 

Supports ordering program-related supplies (which requires advance quarterly 
and month-by-month planning). 

o Manage schedules for conference and community spaces. 
o Submit work orders and schedule repairs, regular recurring deferred maintenance 

for general office space and equipment (i.e., janitorial, contractors for repairs, 
alarm, special deliveries). 

o Record keeping and filing as requested by management for important records. 
o Manage incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries. 
o Collaborate with various staff to ensure a cohesive work environment and 

anticipate needs (i.e., scheduling, program supplies). 
o Support interoffice communications, dissemination of important office updates 

and information, and work closely with management. 
 

 • Reporting, Compliance and Processing: 
o Ensure all office invoices and work orders are tracked, processed and submitted 

on time for payment processing. This requires an organized tracking process. 
o Process mail, which includes coordinating receivables and payments, as well as 

making bank deposits. 
o Prepare and format documents, reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence with 

a high degree of accuracy. 
o Inventory of all office supplies and outreach materials, ensuring they reach the 

right staff. 
o Coordinate office safety initiatives (safety protocols, drills, building compliance). 
o Ensure proper office signage, including required office postings (employee rights, 

etc.), is posted. 
 

 • Administrative support: 
o Support administrative tasks across the team (i.e., scheduling, filing, meeting 

setup).

Manager, Emerging Leaders

The Community Engagement and Programs Coordinator is an engaged member of the Community Impact and Engagement Team who is results-oriented and detail focused. The coordinator will support the Manager of Community Engagement to coordinate the community engagement programs and projects, and oversee volunteer service opportunities. The coordinator has a wide range of responsibilities that support United Way's mission through activities and efforts related to fundraising and community impact and engagement. The coordinator is an engaged team member who actively pursues individual and shared fundraising goals. Key performance indicators and goals will be set each year in partnership with the Director.<ul><li>Serve as the volunteer coordinator, manage the volunteer portal, VolunteerConnect, and provide support to end-users.</li><li>Lead the effort to identify, recruit, retain and recognize volunteers.</li><li>Assist the manager with volunteer appreciation activities annually for National Volunteer Month in April.</li><li>Create annual calendar of volunteer service events and outreach opportunities and serve as point for each opportunity.
