JOB SUMMARYThe program manager oversees the successful implementation of the Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) program. REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Initiatives 
 
PURPOSE: The Parent Educator plays a vital role in advancing United Way of 

El Paso County’s mission, vision, and Education Community Impact 
goals by delivering effective family home visitation programs. This 
position is responsible for implementing the Parents as Teachers 
evidence-based early childhood home visitation framework—
supporting strong communities, thriving families, and children who 
are healthy, safe, and ready to learn. 

 
MAJOR DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES 
The role of the Parent Educator is to will deliver the evidence-based Parents as 
Teachers (PAT) curriculum to families through regular in-home visits. The Parent 
Educator will support parents in fostering their child’s development, conduct 
assessments, connect families with resources, and build strong relationships within the 
community. 
 
Responsibilities: 

ï· Conduct 30–40 home visits per month to families with young children; 

ï· Use the PAT curriculum to promote child development, school readiness, and 
parenting support; 

ï· Facilitate family group sessions and community-based events; 

ï· Conduct developmental screenings and family assessments; 

ï· Maintain accurate and timely records in Visit Tracker (PAT) database; 

ï· Recruit new families through outreach and community presentations; 

ï· Participate in ongoing professional development (minimum 20 hours/year); 

ï· Collaborate with community partners and other United Way programs. 
 

Administrative Compliance for Parents as Teachers: 

ï· Enter and maintain up-to-date client data in electronic system: Visit Tracker 
(PAT) ;

grant requirements;

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Project Management<ul><li>Provide project management leadership and operational oversight of education initiatives</li><li>Support the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that support a continuous pathway from cradle to career and ensure every young person has the potential to succeed</li><li>Track key community outcomes and measurements to support continuous learning and improvement</li><li>Conduct research to quickly understand issue areas and support program development</li><li>Collaborate with other staff to manage and track progress of projects, contributing to and implementing rigorous project management practices, including documentation of projects and key actions through charters, SOPs, and regular evaluation</li><li>Compose regular communication to internal teams, leadership, and external stakeholders about project goals, updates, and progress</li></ul> Community and Partner Engagement<ul><li>Support or lead partner working groups and/or large convenings, including managing logistics, planning agendas, preparing materials, facilitating, note-taking, and creating follow-up items</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with partners, providing technical assistance and relationship management supports to partners by phone, virtual engagement, and in-person meetings (including off-site visits to community partners)</li><li>Support capacity building and education efforts to support partners in achieving shared goals and implementing shared/best practices</li><li>Support efforts to landscape and stay connected to critical community partners and efforts aligned to the goals of United Way’s networks</li><li>Support efforts to regularly gather input from community partners and community members to understand needs and assets across the region</li><li>Coordinate volunteers and corporate or community partners as needed</li><li>Represent United Way at community meetings and events as needed and appropriate</li></ul> Internal Collaboration<ul><li>Support and contribute to data tracking and evaluation efforts for grants and projects</li><li>Internally collaborate with other team members and departments to deliver against projects as needed and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability</li><li>Support grant writing, advocacy, reporting, and corporate engagement to help build awareness, raise resources, and influence systems change</li><li>Contribute to the subject matter expertise of the Community Impact team by engaging in professional development, research on trends and best practices in collective impact approaches and capability building efforts</li></ul> JOB RELATIONSHIPS WITH:&nbsp; All UWGC Teams, UWGC Area Center staff, and Community Partners.
