POSITION SUMMARY AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
The Manager, Resource Development will effectively manage a portfolio of campaign accounts for the annual workplace campaign and other resource development activities.
<ul><li>Responsible for year round relationship maintenance, growth, and new relationship development with targeted campaign accounts.&nbsp; May achieve this goal through such activities as meeting with select accounts, attending specific meetings, and providing a variety of print/verbal information regarding United Way activities and its impact on the community.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Identify and build relationships with new prospective donors, including companies capable of running workplace campaigns and/or making corporate gifts, as well as individual donors.</li>

<li>Assist the Director, Resource Development in resolving problems associated with fund raising objectives and monitoring goal progress.</li>

<li>Assist employers with the development and implementation of their internal United Way Campaign including but not limited to the facilitation of training for employer contacts, group meetings and agency tours.&nbsp;</li>

Job Responsibilities: 
 
1. Campaign Support: 

a. Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising campaigns, including 
workplace campaigns, individual giving, and special events. 

b. Collaborate with the Resource Development team to create campaign materials, 
presentations, and fundraising tools to support campaign activities. 

c. Provide support in conducting prospect research and identifying potential donors and 
sponsors. 

d. Assist with donor cultivation and stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, 
donor recognition, and relationship management. 
 

2. Relationship Management: 
a. Build and maintain positive relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, and 

community stakeholders. 
b. Serve as a liaison between United Way of South Hampton Roads and campaign volunteers, 

providing necessary training, guidance, and resources. 
c. Support volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts to ensure campaign success. 


3. Data Management and Reporting: 
a. Utilize the CRM system to accurately record and track donor information, contributions, and 

campaign results. 
b. Generate regular reports on campaign progress, donor participation, and fundraising 

outcomes. 
c. Analyze campaign data and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making and future 

campaign planning. 


4. Communication and Marketing: 
a. Assist in the distribution of campaign-related communications, such as newsletters, social 

media posts, and email updates. 
b. Support the creation of engaging content and stories to highlight the impact of United Way's 

work and the importance of community support. 
c. Collaborate with the Marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all 

campaign materials.

The Director of Philanthropy will have primary responsibility to achieve established monetary and

groups and development services and sponsorships. The Director will expand and diversify donor 
base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for current and 
emerging needs/initiatives. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Day-to-Day Management 
ï· Prospect management: Gather and utilize data in making requests for donations and other 

types of contributions. Connect prospective individual donors to United Way’s 
work. Connect prospective corporate donor areas of interest or Corporate Social 
Responsibility (CSR) to United Way’s work. Inspire commitment and support for United 
Way. 

ï· Effective selling: Employ consultative selling techniques to match donor interests and 
community aspirations to United Way products/solutions. Measure and track donor and 
employee campaign volunteer satisfaction. 

ï· Create win/win relationships: Understand United Way and donor objectives and where 
they intersect. Identify tangible outcomes that benefit both parties; Identify strategies and

Donor Relations

Donor Data Management 

ï· Responsible for CRM upkeep and implementation. UWEPC currently uses CRM Lite 
software. 

ï· Responsible y for overseeing data entry of opportunities (daily money) ensuring United 
Way Worldwide standards are maintained. 

ï· Responsible for overseeing data entry for workplace giving campaigns and United Way 
Worldwide DB1/DB2. 

ï· Maintain tracking system for all donor recognition, including thank-you letters and e-mails. 
 
Grants 

ï· Working closely with other staff, responsible for upkeep of grant tracker, grant research, 
and coordination of grant-related meetings to ensure all staff understand their roles in the 
application process. Will serve as lead for a portion of United Way grant applications 
ensuring full organizational integration, including support from other senior staff and/or

The Director of Development (DOD) reports to the Vice President of Major Gifts and Multi-Year Giving. The role will be dedicated to supporting the fundraising objectives set forth by the Office of Development (OoD), with a focus on donors and prospects within the Major Gifts Team.&nbsp; The DOD is a key member of the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Office of Development.&nbsp; Following internal policies and best practices relating to portfolio management and fundraising, the DOD will work collaboratively with multiple Development Teams and other UWGA staff to build and manage a fluid portfolio of 125-150. The DOD has primary responsibility for working with the IID to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicitate, and steward donor prospects of $10,000.00 and above within a dynamic, fast-paced fundraising environment.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The position will work closely with the Major Gifts Team, the Corporate Relations Team as well as colleagues across departments, volunteers, boards, community leaders and a variety of others, and must be collaborative, professional, innovative, responsible and more, while maintaining a strong work ethic and attention to detail.&nbsp; It is also essential that the DOD be well versed in both the art and science of individual fundraising and have significant experience identifying new high-capacity prospects, closing major gifts, collaborating with others to close gifts, and managing individual portfolios. Director of Development, Major Gifts

Reporting to the Vice President of Major Gifts and Multiyear Giving, the Senior Director of Tocqueville Society and Leadership Giving (SDTSLG) serves as a key member of the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Office of Development.&nbsp; Following internal policies and best practices relating to giving society management and fundraising, the SDTSLG will work collaboratively with multiple Development Teams, and other UWGA staff.&nbsp; The SDTSLG will provide direction, planning and implementation of strategies to drive overall year-over-year net growth in aggregate revenue and membership for the Tocqueville Society, and will coordinate with the VP of Major Gifts, and Major Gifts Team to maintain and build superior donor relationships and meet measurable goals.&nbsp; Additionally, the SDLGTS will build and manage a fluid portfolio of 100-150 prospects responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship of donor prospects of $10,000 - $50,000.00 and above within a dynamic, fast-paced fundraising environment.&nbsp;The position will work closely with colleagues across departments, volunteers, boards, community leaders and a variety of others, and must be collaborative, professional, innovative, responsible and more while maintaining a strong work ethic and attention to detail.&nbsp; It is also essential that the SDTSLG be well versed in giving society management, fundraising strategy, the art and science of individual fundraising, and have significant experience in closing major gifts, collaborating with others to close gifts, and managing individual portfolios. The SDTSLG will spend approximately 50% of their time each month working with the Tocqueville Society to implement and guide strategy for the retention, growth and engagement of all major gift donors, and 50% of their time each month working with their portfolio to secure personal visits with prospects and will report on at least 8 substantive visits per month.&nbsp;<h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>The SDTSLG will be responsible for the following goals, duties, and responsibilities:<ul><li>Develop and execute the Tocqueville Society’s growth plan, segmented for Ivan Allen Circle, at a net growth rate in revenue raised and membership consistent with the annual plan.</li><li>Develop a strategy, plan, and direct all society fundraising, recruitment, and retention activities.</li><li>Responsible for ensuring the successful execution of the strategic plan by working with the President, SVP of Revenue, VP of Major Gifts, and appropriate team members and volunteers.&nbsp;</li><li>Direct and execute all events and activities that support Tocqueville Society membership recruitment, stewardship and engagement.</li><li>Establish and manage a quality control system for all Tocqueville related marketing materials and communications.</li><li>Work with the Major Gift Team to develop individual strategic cultivation plans for key donors and donor prospects.</li><li>Ensure all Tocqueville Society data is current, appropriate to goals and outcomes.</li><li>Secure 100 approved face-to-face visits per year, no fewer than 8 per month.</li><li>Qualifying 30 new portfolio level prospects.&nbsp;</li><li>Submitting a minimum of 15 major gift solicitations per year at a level required by this position.</li><li>Securing annual dollar goal as set by Development leadership.</li><li>Making all contacts necessary via phone, email, other, to achieve the above-mentioned results.</li><li>Documenting all data necessary to track said goals through the timely submission of activity within the UWGA CRM, as required by internal policies.</li><li>Develop, implement, and manage a productive, fluid portfolio of 75-100 prospects through best practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Exceed all yearly revenue and metric-driven goals.</li><li>Promote collaboration, recognizing our shared goals, and regularly collaborate with colleagues within the Office of Development and other departments as needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure the proper stewardship of individuals.</li><li>Increase awareness and knowledge among prospects, donors and other key stakeholders about the Child Well-Being Movement.</li><li>Develop a solid and detailed working knowledge of United Way’s funding priorities and products</li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development</li></ul><h2>Qualifications and Competencies</h2>Qualifications<ul><li>Undergraduate degree required.</li><li>Experience with annual giving societies.</li><li>Five to seven years of fundraising experience, including the demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, and close major gifts.</li><li>Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.</li><li>Organization skills for a fast-paced work environment.</li><li>Microsoft Office knowledge including, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.</li><li>Experience with CRM/database management.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Advanced Degree</li><li>AFP CFRE certification</li><li>Experience implementing and managing capital campaigns.&nbsp;</li><li>Demonstrated fundraising innovation, especially as it relates to portfolio management.</li><li>Successful solicitation of major gifts from individuals.</li></ul>Competencies&nbsp;A successful individual in this role will have:<ul><li>Ability to manage multiple projects, meeting external needs while preserving internal relationships and meeting strict deadlines and requirements.</li><li>Entrepreneurial and highly energetic.&nbsp; Must be a self-starter and able to work effectively independent of direct supervision.&nbsp;</li><li>Highly Advanced fundraising skills and knowledge.&nbsp;</li><li>Exceptional skills managing individual donor portfolios and developing prospects from identification through solicitation while moving them towards increased giving.</li><li>Ability to think strategically and implement strategic policies and practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively to achieve common goals, fostering cooperation, transparency, and communication. &nbsp;</li><li>Ability to motivate others through communication, modeling appropriate behavior, optimism and high achievement.&nbsp;</li><li>Openness to new ideas and their implementation.&nbsp; Ability to react and adapt to changing situations appropriately.&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and organization.</li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamic CRM, Raiser’s Edge, or a similar CRM software</li><li>Highly attentive to detail and exceptional grammar required.</li><li>Dedicated to shared and measurable goals and metrics.</li></ul>
