Purpose of Position 
Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) is a is a web-based data system which collects homeless 
services and related data from shelters, supportive service providers, and public agencies working to serve 
homeless and at-risk clients in Orange County. Its purpose is to ascertain an unduplicated count of people 
experiencing homelessness in Orange County, track their progress through the system of care into self-sufficiency, 
coordinate service delivery, and provide accurate aggregate data regarding sub-populations. The successful 
candidate will have a strong aptitude for providing technical support to non-technical database users, databases, 
and a keen interest in analyzing and interpreting data including writing and running reports. Under the direction 
of the HMIS Senior Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading HMIS training activities, 
contributing content to monthly HMIS user meetings, compiling monthly performance reports using HMIS data, 
participating in the completion of several HUD reports throughout the year, and providing general support to HMIS 
participating agencies 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 

 • Serves as 2nd tier technical support to HMIS agencies to ensure appropriate use of system 
 • Supports the ongoing development of HMIS training and education materials, including the development 

of new and maintenance of existing training materials, as well as conducting training in webinar format 
 • Participate in agency audit process, including maintenance of materials, training staff, performing audits, 

tracking results and following up with agencies

 Job Title: Financial Education Specialist Reporting To: Program Manager, United For Financial Security 

 Department: United for Financial Security Position: Full-time/NON-EXEMPT 
 
Orange County United Way seeks an experienced, bilingual (English and Spanish) Financial Education 
Specialist to provide support to the Sparkpoint OC team by conducting outreach, client recruitment, 
facilitating trainings, teaching financial literacy classes, and data entry. 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Financial Education Specialist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 

 • Facilitate and teach financial literacy workshops in English and Spanish 
 • Conduct orientations and outreach events to meet program enrollment and attendee goals 
 • Create presentation content for workshops 
 • Partner with community organizations to schedule and facilitate workshops 
 • Represent Orange County United Way at community events and resource fairs 
 • Manage referral and enrollment process to ensure timely response and appropriate tracking 
 • Work with internal departments to develop marketing materials for distribution 
 • Assist with all administrative responsibilities including: scheduling meetings, managing Outlook 

calendar, handle client communications, etc. 
 • Provide quality customer service to all program participants and partners 
 • Maintain accurate records of class presentations, attendance, and evaluation data 
 • Complete reports as needed as directed by the Program Manager 
 • Participate in initiative and/or organizational programs, meetings, events, and activities 
 • Provide support to the SparkPoint Tax Site during tax season 
 • Perform other duties as assigned 


Required Skills and Experience 
 • Must be bilingual in English/Spanish (reading, writing and speaking) 
 • Knowledge of issues affecting low to moderate-income households and communities in Orange 

County 
 • Ability to pass a Tax Law Certification exam during tax season (training provided)

Financial Education Specialist

<h2>The Principal Gifts Officer (PGO) is a key member of the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Office of Development. The PGO will adhere to internal policies and best practices related to Major Gift and Multi-Year giving portfolio management and fundraising. United Way of Northeast Florida (UWNEFL) serves as the backbone agency for the initiative. Mission United aims to assist military personnel as they reacclimate to civilian life by providing care coordination to connect them to programs and services to assist them with critical health and human services. The manager will support the implementation of the Mission United care coordination model.&nbsp; Additionally, this position will support Veteran Care Coordinators who provide resources and track clients and their outcomes. The manager will work with an established group of stakeholders who Mission United uses to connect veterans to health and human services.&nbsp;Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:<ul><li>In collaboration with United Way leadership, manage program operations for Mission United.</li><li>Manage, develop, and guide Veteran Care Coordinators in serving veterans in need of support.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage a subset of program deliverables assisting the program reach certain program outcomes.&nbsp;</li><li>Foster a productive, positive, and supportive team atmosphere.&nbsp;</li><li>Proactively participate in cross department efforts that support the overall success of Mission United and United Way.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintain accurate records of care coordination activities and outcomes, and prepare reports on program performance for senior management.</li><li>Develop and implement care coordination strategies to ensure seamless transitions between different levels of care.</li><li>Assist the program in reaching contract deliverables and remaining in compliance with various partners and funders.&nbsp;</li><li>Monitor and evaluate care coordination activities, problem solving, and making necessary adjustments.</li><li>Represent Mission United in the community through external outreach with supporters and partners.</li><li>Conduct other duties/ tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Community Impact for the success of the Mission United program.</li></ul>Experience/Qualifications:<ul><li>Minimum three years of experience serving military/veteran populations in human, social service, and or nonprofit settings.</li><li>Three to five years of military experience required</li><li>Bachelor’s degree required.</li><li>Previous experience leading staff and or volunteers preferred.</li><li>Strong interpersonal skills that support productive relationships with United Way staff, administration, volunteers and community organizations.</li><li>Proficient in analyzing program data.</li><li>Excellent communication skills- written and verbal.</li><li>Knowledge of community resources in Northeast Florida desired.</li><li>Knowledge of and experience with the Veterans Administration (VA) as well as VA services and benefits preferred</li><li>Skills in managing grant deliverables and expenses</li><li>Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other related computer programs.</li><li>Ability to work effectively on site and in virtual environments.</li><li>Ability to work effectively under stress and maintain productivity and composure under pressure</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment</li><li>Ability to use good judgment and assessment techniques</li><li>Ability to pass and maintain a Level 2 background check is required.&nbsp; This is a security background investigation requiring submitting fingerprints to be screened through state law enforcement agencies and the FBI for national criminal history records&nbsp;</li><li>Must pass pre-employment drug screening</li><li>Staff members who drive a vehicle on UWNEFL business must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.&nbsp;</li></ul><ol><li>Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of NE Florida.&nbsp;</li><li>Actively participate in the broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community.</li></ol>Compensation and Benefits:<ol><li>Competitive Pay – Commensurate with education and experience based on current market</li><li>Health Insurance – Generous zero to low-cost Medical, Dental, and Vision for employees and dependents</li><li>403(b) Matching – Generous matching up to 6% of annual pay</li><li>Holidays – 11 paid holidays, three personal holidays, and four year-end bonus days</li><li>Vacation – Two weeks paid vacation&nbsp;</li><li>Flexible Schedule – Hybrid working environment with the ability to modify as needed</li><li>Vibrant Work Environment – office space in The Jessie in downtown Jacksonville, a nonprofit and community gathering space in a sustainable, state-of-the-art facility with free monthly parking</li><li>Purpose – Help United Way transform NEFL into a community of opportunity and hope for ALL people</li><li>Employee Assistance Program</li><li>A fun, challenging, and inclusive culture</li></ol>General Physical Requirements for Essential Functions of the Job:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
