Purpose of Position:
The Manager, Mission United is responsible for the success of Mission United Northeast Florida. United Way of Northeast Florida (UWNEFL) serves as the backbone agency for the initiative. Mission United aims to assist military personnel as they reacclimate to civilian life by providing care coordination to connect them to programs and services to assist them with critical health and human services. The manager will support the implementation of the Mission United care coordination model. Additionally, this position will support Veteran Care Coordinators who provide resources and track clients and their outcomes. The manager will work with an established group of stakeholders who Mission United uses to connect veterans to health and human services.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- In collaboration with United Way leadership, manage program operations for Mission United.
- Manage, develop, and guide Veteran Care Coordinators in serving veterans in need of support.
- Manage a subset of program deliverables assisting the program reach certain program outcomes.
- Foster a productive, positive, and supportive team atmosphere.
- Proactively participate in cross department efforts that support the overall success of Mission United and United Way.
- Maintain accurate records of care coordination activities and outcomes, and prepare reports on program performance for senior management.
- Develop and implement care coordination strategies to ensure seamless transitions between different levels of care.
- Assist the program in reaching contract deliverables and remaining in compliance with various partners and funders.
- Monitor and evaluate care coordination activities, problem solving, and making necessary adjustments.
- Represent Mission United in the community through external outreach with supporters and partners.
- Conduct other duties/ tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Community Impact for the success of the Mission United program.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of experience serving military/veteran populations in human, social service, and or nonprofit settings.
- Three to five years of military experience required
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous experience leading staff and or volunteers preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills that support productive relationships with United Way staff, administration, volunteers and community organizations.
- Proficient in analyzing program data.
- Excellent communication skills- written and verbal.
- Knowledge of community resources in Northeast Florida desired.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Veterans Administration (VA) as well as VA services and benefits preferred
- Skills in managing grant deliverables and expenses
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other related computer programs.
- Ability to work effectively on site and in virtual environments.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and maintain productivity and composure under pressure
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to use good judgment and assessment techniques
- Ability to pass and maintain a Level 2 background check is required. This is a security background investigation requiring submitting fingerprints to be screened through state law enforcement agencies and the FBI for national criminal history records
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Staff members who drive a vehicle on UWNEFL business must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
- Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of NE Florida.
- Actively participate in the broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community.
