Key Responsibilities 
Resource Development (70%) 
 

 • Oversee the design and implementation of resource development strategies, including donor 
outreach and events, corporate giving, grant opportunities and corporate/program sponsorship

 • Manage and oversee annual campaign efforts including GiveBig, Year-End, and workplace giving 
campaigns, ensuring timely communication and meeting campaign needs of external partners. 

 • Work with the Director of Finance to develop and monitor revenue streams to better 
understand and communicate cash flow. Additionally, work together to set financial milestones 
that establish achievements for celebration and opportunities for course correction. 

 • Maintain a portfolio of top corporate, foundation, and major donors and prospects; develop and 
implement strategies for engagement in UWSC activities and increased giving. 

 • Provide the Executive Director and UWSC board of directors with regular updates on data 
relevant to tracking fundraising progress and planning. 

 • Steward the UWSC board of directors’ giving to UWSC and support the board’s understanding of 
fundraising efforts. 

 • Represent UWSC in the community on boards, panels and commissions and events that support 
UWSC’s community and fundraising goals. 

 • Stay informed and up to date on community, state and national issues that have a bearing on 
the work of UWSC. 

 • Develop a thorough knowledge of the United Way nationally and build positive relationships 
across the United Way system. 

 • Create and monitor the resource development budget; work with the Executive Director and 
Finance Director in creating the organization’s overall budget by providing accurate information 
and the best forecasts possible. Create accurate projections to report regular progress to the 
leadership team and board of directors. 

 
Marketing and Communications (30%) 


 • Set the overall strategic direction for marketing and communications activities, including 
branding, public relations, crisis communications, advertising, email newsletters, and print and 
electronic materials development. 

 • Oversee the development of a comprehensive, year-round marketing plan that supports the 
engagement strategy. 

 • Ensure that communications are capable of achieving desired response by recipients while 
telling stories that are respectful and empathetic of individuals experiencing hardship. 

 • Drive digital innovation by overseeing and creating content for social media strategies and 
tactics, the UWSC website, annual report, collateral videos, etc. 

 • Identify key target audiences and develop messaging plans to engage each of these audiences to

Preferred Qualifications 
 

 • 5+ years related experience and progressive leadership with a proven history of high level, high 
return fundraising or business development results based on building strong, lasting 
relationships with donors/customers, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 • Experience with securing foundation and/or government grants. 

 • Experience with Little Green Light or other similar CRM programs. 

 • Experience with Adobe products, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as 
experience with online platform Canva. 

 • Experience with Drupal or similar web-based programs a plus. 

 • Knowledge of and experience working in Snohomish County a plus. 

 • History of working effectively with all people across a wide range of economic status, ability,

 Job Title: Program Manager, Education Reporting To: Director, United for Student Success 

 Department: United for Student Success Position: Full-time/EXEMPT 

 
Purpose of Position 
The Program Manager holds a crucial role in advancing Orange County United Way’s (OCUW) mission 
and the United for Students Success (U4SS) Initiative goals. This involves actively contributing to the 
systematic increase of the high school graduation rate to 95% among students from disadvantaged 
socio-economic backgrounds. The manager oversees the day-to-day administration of grant-related 
activities, with a specific focus on delivering college and career awareness and preparation services to a 
cohort of 7th-12th grade students in Orange County middle and high schools. Additionally, the role 
includes active participation in identifying and cultivating potential funding opportunities. Collaborating 
closely with the U4SS Executive Director and Director, the Education Programs Manager provides 
leadership by training, coaching, and managing staff. The position also requires a critical evaluation of 
grant outcomes and objectives to ensure the continued success and impact of the programs. 
 
This is a one-year grant-funded position and is full-time (37.5 hours/week). 
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
The individual in this role will assume diverse responsibilities under the guidance of the 
U4SS Director, encompassing coaching, program management, and collaboration with 
other departments. The following key duties and responsibilities outline the core 
functions associated with this position, subject to adjustment at the discretion of the 
U4SS Director: 

 • Work collaboratively with the Business Development and Education Program 
Managers to deliver youth programming. 

 • Coach and support U4SS Program Specialist(s) and assist staff in executing 
program activities and events. 

 • Lead, implement, and manage Destination Graduation and Youth Career 
Connections programs and initiatives. 

o Coordinate program logistics, outreach, and evaluation efforts. 
o Assign, track and troubleshoot tasks to successfully meet deadlines and 

objectives. 
o Demonstrate an understanding and practice of the principles 

of positive youth development in program development and 
implementation. 

 • Work closely with the U4SS Executive Director and Director to refine Education Department 
programs, policies and processes (i.e., S.M.A.R.T objectives, evaluation plans, and grantee 


scope of work). 
 • Provide support to the U4SS Team, various Initiatives including Destination Graduation and 

Youth Career Connections as necessary. 
o Manage meetings with various partners related to any of the educational initiatives. 
o Conduct presentations on educational initiatives to internal United Way staff, 

corporate partners, educational partners, students, parents, and teachers. 
o Oversee coordination of college interns, as necessary 
o Oversee the outreach and recruitment of volunteers into various educational initiatives. 
o Manage aspects of event planning and coordination of educational events on a 

quarterly basis. 
o Update corporate, education, and agency list of corporate partners on CRM 

software 
o Coordinate support for various U4SS Education Initiatives (i.e., corresponding 

sub- committees, campaigns, and special projects) 
o Participate in and provide strategic planning to the U4SS Leadership Committee with 

U4SS Directors 
o Coordinate U4SS meetings and follow-up tasks (i.e., lead communication and 

coordination efforts, compose and distribute meeting notes to committee 
members, respond to general U4SS inquiries, etc.) 

 • Develop and manage budgets for programs, ensuring efficient use of resources. 
o Maintain an accurate expense log, tracking expenditures and ensuring adherence to 

budgetary constraints. 
 • Provide support to outside vendors and contractors, as assigned. 
 • Attend relevant meetings, trainings, workshops, outside events, and organization-wide activities.

 • 2+ years of experience working in a supervisory/management position strongly preferred. 
 • 2-3 years of experience with youth support programming, mentorship, and/or community 

outreach. 
 • Proven record of proficiency in writing skills. 
 • Demonstrated record in achieving results with low-income youth and teens. 
 • Proven experience in guiding the development of curricula by other educators. 
 • Familiarity with research-based approaches to hands-on, experiential, community-based, and/or

Purpose of PositionWe are redefining workforce development in Orange County and looking for a creative, collaborative, and goal-oriented team member to help lead this charge! The Orange County United Way (OCUW) is hiring a Workforce Program Manager to oversee all business development efforts aimed at linking our college and career readiness programs to partner schools and serve students, in collaboration with the Orange County Department of Education and other workforce partners.
