Objectives &amp; Expectations: 
The Mobility Mentor will work in partnership with individuals through coaching, preparing and encouraging them on their 

journey toward self-sufficiency through goal setting. They will demonstrate an understanding of the issues, community 

needs, and existing systems of care related to the ALICE population. Mobility Mentoring is defined as the professional 

practice of partnering with individuals so that over time they may acquire the resources, skills, and sustained behavior 

changes necessary to attain and preserve their economic independence. Mobility Mentors coach individuals in setting 

priorities, developing action plans, honoring commitments, connecting to resources, and achieving goals. Candidate must 

be customer focused, datadriven, organized, and results oriented. This position is based in Norfolk, and the mentor must 

be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and/or weekends to meet individual’s needs. Successful 

candidates will have a strong ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and educate stakeholders on the 

needs of the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population. Experience implementing motivational 

interviewing and trauma-informed practices is preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 
 • Provide direct coaching/mentoring by carrying a full caseload of up to thirty individuals per year 

 • Identify the strengths of participants and support individuals in overcoming barriers through problemsolving. 

 • Assist participants in setting goals related to family and personal well-being, career, education, housing and family 
finances while breaking down goals into manageable steps recognizing barriers to selfsufficiency that are multi-

faceted. 

 • Thorough documentation of coaching activities in an objective, detailed, and timely manner 

 • Accurate tracking and reporting of demographic information and data regarding individual assessment, goal setting, 
goal achievement, and referrals within specified guidelines.

NFKthrive Long-term Mobility Mentor (Part-time)

VBthrive is a collaborative initiative geared to support long-term pandemic recovery by serving the needs of individuals, families and businesses in the City of Virginia Beach that have been impacted by COVID-19 to help them build stability and lasting self-sufficiency. Specifically, the initiative will work with a variety of partners to provide support for individuals and families through coaching and resource navigation in the priority areas of housing, financial management, workforce readiness, and wraparound services. Mobility Mentors are a key role in the VBthrive program and provide one-on-one coaching to partner with participants on their path to self-sufficiency.Objectives &amp; Expectations: The case manager will work directly with individuals to focus on self-sufficiency by connecting them with wraparound services. They will demonstrate an understanding of issues, community needs, and existing systems of care related to the ALICE population. Case management is defined as a collaborative process of assessment, planning, facilitation, care coordination, evaluation, and advocacy for options and services to meet an individual’s comprehensive health needs. This position will handle incoming phone contacts on our National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988, while collecting and documenting all required data and offering all applicable resources and referrals to callers who may be in emotional distress and suicidal crisis. The Crisis &amp; 988 Specialist is responsible for providing excellent service to those accessing the service by applying the equivalent of reflective listening and motivational interviewing skills in the context of an electronic exchange. Crisis &amp; 988 Specialists have the special training and skills to interact via phone, chat and text to understand callers’ unique circumstances and needs, render immediate emotional support, provide options for ongoing support/treatment and follow up to ensure needs are being met. This position also requires the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse and multi-cultural individuals, be non-judgmental, and respectful of the confidential nature of the job.  Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions: • Attend staff meetings, in-services, training sessions and conferences when appropriate to job responsibilities. • Participate in staff training activities to maintain the required annual training hours. • Keep Microsoft TEAMS open and check frequently. Acknowledge new posts from Crisis &amp; 988 Director or other supervisory staff promptly. • Keep Outlook email account open and minimized on desktop during work hours; respond to supervisor emails promptly. • Document and maintain accurate, thorough records of all telephone interventions transacted during the work shift. • Be fully prepared to begin answering phone lines promptly per assigned work schedule. • Log into the call queue to take calls prior to the beginning of the shift. • Adhere to lunch and shift schedule unless change is approved in advance by the Supervisor. • Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of NE Florida. • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Crisis and 988 by completing all other tasks as assigned. • Answer phone calls with an appropriate tone of voice, paying close attention to voice inflection and volume. • Answer chats, texts and emails using correct spelling grammar, and professional language, paying close attention to the inclusion of feeling reflections. • Demonstrate proficiency in using multiple types of contact center software, computer hardware and telephone equipment. • Maintain acceptable level of contact handling and customer service performance as described by 988 training standards. • Within 988 guidelines, assesses needs of persons contacting 988 and provide para-professional counseling, information &amp; referral services, crisis intervention, suicide de-escalation/intervention, and linkage services via various channels of communication, including: online chat, phone, texting and email. • Use active listening skills and conversational intent to; develop a strategy that identifies solutions to barriers to access, provide high-quality confidential connections to resources and services, demonstrate objectivity and empathy and be non-judgmental and neutral in handing all contacts. • Develop and implement crisis related safety plans. • If imminent risk to the individual or others, the Crisis &amp; 988 Specialist may engage 911 to assist in response. • Maintain a non-judgmental attitude when interacting with contacts, displaying sensitivity to all cultural backgrounds. • Referral process consists of assessing the needs of the inquirer, identifying appropriate resources, and providing enough information about resources to help inquirer make an informed decision. • In line with 988 policy and procedures, follows-up with designated at-risk callers to determine referral outcomes. • Must successfully complete VIBRANT training prior to assisting callers • Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team • These job responsibilities are to be the main emphasis of this position. SFSF is an evidence-based curriculum designed for military families, with children 0-17, who have experienced a military related transition. The program supports families. It coordinates, recruits and facilitates the SFSF program for service-connected families in a group and one-on-one in-home setting. This person will have the ability to work on a mobile work modality and communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders in a professional manner. The successful candidate will be flexible, self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES •    Build and maintain professional relationships with local military service organizations, promote cooperation and collaborative work with United Way funded agencies •    Demonstrate sensitivity, empathy regarding human service issues and project a non-judgmental attitude towards individual requiring assistance •    Respond to callers’ request for assistance by assessing service needs and providing information and referrals as appropriate. Overall Purpose of this Role: The Coordinator, Human Resources is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department and supports the overall business operation by performing front desk reception duties.
