Position Summary:&nbsp; The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will play a crucial role at United Way of Indian River County, planning and implementing a successful major giving and planned giving program to generate resources from the philanthropic community. &nbsp;The position objectives are to maximize giving growth through a concerted effort to establish and grow meaningful relationships with major donors (Leadership, Alexis de Tocqueville Societies, and Foundation legacy donors), to retain our current donor base, and to develop new donor relationships. &nbsp;The MGO will grow revenue through individual giving, expand and diversify&nbsp;the donor base/pipeline, and work closely with other team members to secure funding for current and emerging needs/initiatives. CEO, cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective donors:<ul><li>Support the annual campaign through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors, them with UWIRC’s mission and initiatives.</li><li>Maintain accurate records in Raisers Edge (RE), including notes, actions, and proposals, and report on gift intentions and legacy commitments at Board meetings.</li><li>Interact with donors and prospects through various means, including in-person meetings, phone calls, and Zoom meetings.</li><li>Ensure each donor has a clear solicitation strategy and timeline, all recorded in RE.&nbsp;</li><li>Work with other staff and board members, using them for stewardship activities as needed to maximize donor engagement.</li><li>Coordinate with other Resource Development staff as needed for gift entry, acknowledgement letters, and other donor communications.</li><li>Ensure proper donor recognition for major donors in all publications.</li><li>Coordinate with key staff to develop all donor-facing materials, including solicitation letters, newsletters, brochures, and annual reports.</li><li>Reach specific milestones set with the CEO based on donor interactions, new major donors, and donors stewarded to higher giving levels.</li></ul>United Way Foundation Duties:<ul><li>Work with the UWF Fund Development Committee to strategize ways to bring in new legacy donors.</li><li>Manage multi-year gift strategies and endowment development.</li><li>Work with your portfolio to identify annual givers with the capacity to leave a legacy gift.</li><li>Engage with estate planners, financial planners, and other professionals who work in estate planning to bring awareness to leaving UWF in estate plans.</li></ul>Events<ul><li>Work with the Campaign Manager and CEO to plan and execute the annual Leadership and Alexis de Tocqueville Societies thank you event.</li><li>Assist with securing the appropriate sponsor for the thank-you event that resonates with the intended audience.</li><li>Work with board and committee members to plan and execute small gatherings for prospects and major This position serves as a key participant of the Campaign Cabinet to support new business and re-engagement business strategies.&nbsp;The Resource Development Manager is essential to the success of United Way of Palm Beach County’s financial commitment to the community to strategically address the most critical needs and create systemic change through helping youth succeed, stabilizing families, and empowering healthy lives.<h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:<ul><li>Manage large portfolio of assigned corporate accounts to aid in the planning and execution of corporate “workplace” giving initiatives</li><li>Increase investment in United Way by expanding and diversifying resource development efforts in workplace campaigns with the support of the Campaign Cabinet</li><li>Make presentations and represent United Way of Palm Beach County in the community at local events and workplace campaign kick-offs&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure that accurate, up-to-date information is maintained in the database for assigned portfolio of accounts</li><li>Work in collaboration with full development team to ensure corporate partners are educated and aware of all affinity group engagement opportunities for their employees</li><li>Ability to build consensus and facilitate collaboration and productive relationships with diverse individuals, groups, organizations, and community</li><li>Work closely in partnership with finance and pledge processing for the pledge reconciliation process to help ensure UW is in receipt of full giving amounts</li><li>Manage and monitor progress and results for all assigned accounts</li><li>Work in partnership with assigned temporary campaign staff by participating in the training, support, motivation, problem solving and assessment of assigned accounts</li><li>Collaborate with marketing to develop content for fundraising needs including year-round menu of giving opportunities and other seasonal corporate engagement materials</li><li>Represent UWPBC at public speaking engagements with local businesses and events&nbsp;</li><li>Assist, as assigned by management, with the organization’s disaster response efforts</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul><h2>Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)</h2><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years of experience in the field of sales and/or fundraising, or a minimum of 4 years’ experience in fundraising.&nbsp;</li><li>Must have strong writing skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, and database management</li><li>Ability to manage multiple demands; results oriented and ability to work quickly and accurately&nbsp;</li><li>Experience in working with Boards and volunteers a plus; extremely tactful and diplomatic in dealing with confidential concerns</li><li>Ability to solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively</li><li>Works well with people and engenders trust and confidence from fellow staff and volunteers</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills&nbsp;</li><li>Understanding of and commitment to CRM (customer relationship management)</li></ul>
