Community Resource Specialist

United Way of Broome County is a non-profit organization that fights for the health, education, and financial stability of Broome County residents. The organization works in partnership with community organizations and members to drive change that will have positive impact on the critical needs of the community.&nbsp;POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:&nbsp; This position is responsible for providing support within the Community Initiatives &amp; Planning Department.&nbsp; The primary role of the Fund Development &amp; Grants Administration Coordinatoris to support the Director of Community Initiatives&nbsp;&amp; Planning by assisting with activities which advance the United Way of Broome County’s (UWBC) Community Impact (CI) business model. They will be responsible for identifying opportunities for grant funding, preparing proposals, and coordinating internal resources in preparation for proposal submission, monitoring, and managing all grants to ensure we are in compliance with all reporting requirements. They will oversee awarded grants through the entire funding lifecycle, ensuring funding contracts are properly executed, all reporting is completed in compliance with deadlines, and initiatives are being implemented according to the proposed scope of work. They will collaborate closely with the Finance Department, Resource Development team, and programmatic staff to ensure the successful implementation of all funded proposals, including proper program and data management practices.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Fund Development<ul><li>Research&nbsp;funding opportunities from&nbsp;corporate foundations,&nbsp;private and community&nbsp;foundations, and government agencies, and assist with interpreting guidelines and assessing whether grant opportunities fit with United Way of Broome County’s Priorities and Community Impact Goals and the work of the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition.</li><li>Lead grant proposal development and submission for renewals and new applications—preparing and organizing materials for proposals and submitting and monitoring grant applications—including drafting proposals/LOIs; grant application narratives; and, in collaboration with the Finance Department, program budgets.</li><li>Collaborate and finalize proposals with development, program, communications, and finance staff.</li><li>Manage access and systems for accessing grant portals.</li><li>Maintain master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence.</li><li>Maintain a library of grant supporting documents including, but not limited to, resumes; biographies of key staff; IRS forms; and Board/staff listing.</li><li>Develop structures process to forecast future grant opportunities and build proposal outlines with internal and external partners to target forecasting grants.</li><li>Gain a thorough knowledge of community issues, data trends, and national and local research.</li><li>In collaboration with the&nbsp;Resource Development and Marketing team, ensure acknowledgment of funders/investors via website, e-newsletter, and social media.</li></ul>Grants Administration<ul><li>Work closely with the Resource Development team to manage grantor communications. Develop and send reports, correspondence, and thank-you letters to funders and other stakeholders.&nbsp;</li><li>Work with programmatic staff to oversee the successful implementation of grant funded initiatives, including providing oversight for performance management practices such as tracking output and outcome data.</li><li>Work with the Finance Team to maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurements and grant budgets.</li><li>Communicate upcoming deadlines and reporting requirements for all grants to necessary internal staff.</li><li>Responsible for grant closeout, which includes compiling final reports and assisting with the assurance that all purchase orders will be paid and/or liquidated within 90 days of grant ending period and assurance that all expenditures were received within the grant period.</li></ul>Community Initiatives<ul><li>Represent United Way at community events, forums, planning meetings, and work groups as assigned by the Director.</li><li>Develop strong collaborative relationships within the community, with a focus on those organizations whose work aligns with UWBC priorities.</li><li>Identify opportunities for coalition and collaborative initiatives to support UWBC priorities, including funding opportunities, and work towards implementation under the direction of the&nbsp;Director of Community Initiatives and Planning.</li><li>Under the direction of the Community Initiatives and Planning Director, assist with the application development process for all CI funding opportunities including, but not limited to, Strategic Community Grants Program; Capacity Building Grant Program; and the Emergency Grant Program. This includes providing support to the Community Initiatives Associate to ensure the timely dissemination of funding applications and contracts, reporting, evaluation, and data management.&nbsp;</li><li>Support the planning and implementation of the UWBC annual Partnering for a Purpose conference quarterly meetings around Healthy Communities, Youth Opportunity, and Financial Security, and other networking and professional development opportunities for community-based organizations.</li></ul>Organizational Needs<ul><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director to support the effective operation of UWBC.</li></ul>&nbsp;QUALIFICATIONS:&nbsp; Qualified candidates for the position will possess the following:Education and Experience Required:<ul><li>Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in English, human development, social work, or a related field with experience in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
