United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Specialist II, Communications to join our team. As a Specialist II, Communications, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing United Way Miami’s internal and external communication initiatives. This role plays a key part in ensuring clear, consistent, and engaging messaging that aligns with the organization’s mission and strategic goals. The Communications Specialist II develops and manages communication materials, fosters collaboration across departments, and helps maintain a strong and cohesive organizational identity that reflects United Way Miami’s values and impact in the community.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Write, edit, and review content for a variety of projects and communication channels, including newsletters, memos, scripts, reports, workshops, and presentations.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and ensure clear, consistent, and effective communication across the organization.
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations and workshops to educate and inform stakeholders, partners, and the community about United Way Miami’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
- Conduct thorough research and interviews to support the development of accurate and compelling communication materials.
- Participate in team planning sessions and contribute creative and innovative ideas to strengthen communication strategies and campaigns.
- Partner with the Marketing & Communications and Digital Services Strategy teams to execute initiatives that enhance United Way Miami’s brand and visibility.
- Support the implementation of organization-wide communication strategies and activities that advance UWM’s goals and priorities.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

- Effective and confident communicator in both group settings and one-on-one interactions.

- Exhibits professionalism, diplomacy, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills in all interactions.
Requirements
Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism or equivalent experience.
Experience Requirements: 4+ years of experience writing for both mission-based organizations, corporate, multi-product brands, and consumers. Experience working on digital media and non-profit experience is a plus.
Technology Requirements: Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Knowledge of modern web browsers.
Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Highly motivated, organized content producer who is analytical and can formulate content for use across various communications channels. Knowledge of digital media, marketing and advertising approaches. Ability to work under pressure while being attentive to details. Able to work with a wide variety of people, face-face and in writing. Comfortable working in a team within a very matrixed organization. Strong skills in written and oral communication, public relations, website (WordPress), and media are essential for success in this position. Must have experience in drafting content for members of an executive team.
