The Sr. Accountant provides accounting and financial oversight for operational areas of United Way of Greater Cincinnati, UWGC Foundation, and any shared services.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Create, review and post various journal entries. Ensure proper documentation and audit trail.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, quarterly, or annually.
  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
  • Analyze bank accounts and make recommendations around cash flow strategies.
  • Prepare monthly reports for UWGC departments and managers.
  • Support the UWGC and UWGC Foundation closing process to ensure timely results are produced.
  • Maintaining and updating our accounting platform – new accounts, structure changes, reporting filters etc.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  • Participate in updating policies and procedures related to finance and accounting activities.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Assist with activities and requirements of external auditors.
  • Performs backup duties - accounts payable support.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting, GAAP, and GAAS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.
  • At least 8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
  • Occasional local travel to events within the regional area.
  • Extended viewing of computer monitor.

SALARY: $70,000 plus competitive benefits package
