Senior Accountant
The Sr. Accountant provides accounting and financial oversight for operational areas of United Way of Greater Cincinnati, UWGC Foundation, and any shared services.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- Create, review and post various journal entries. Ensure proper documentation and audit trail.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, quarterly, or annually.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes.
- Analyze bank accounts and make recommendations around cash flow strategies.
- Prepare monthly reports for UWGC departments and managers.
- Support the UWGC and UWGC Foundation closing process to ensure timely results are produced.
- Maintaining and updating our accounting platform – new accounts, structure changes, reporting filters etc.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Participate in updating policies and procedures related to finance and accounting activities.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets.
- Assist with activities and requirements of external auditors.
- Performs backup duties - accounts payable support.
- Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
- Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting, GAAP, and GAAS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.
- At least 8 years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.
- Occasional local travel to events within the regional area.
- Extended viewing of computer monitor.
SALARY: $70,000 plus competitive benefits package
