
Family Centered Case Coach, Dual Generation Initiative

JOB SUMMARY
The Dual Generation Family Centered Case Coach plays a critical role in advancing United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s Dual Generation Initiative by serving as a trusted partner to families navigating complex systems. This position is responsible for building strong, supportive strength-based relationships with families in prioritized communities, connecting them to relevant services, and fostering progress toward their personal and family educational and economic goals. Grounded in a family-centered and strengths-based approach, the Family Centered Case Coach provides individualized guidance and helps ensure families have access to coordinated, holistic resources that promote long-term well-being and stability. This role also requires collaboration with internal teams and community partners to align efforts and support family success. This position will be housed at the United Way’s Family Resource Center located inside of Pecan Valley Elementary.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Build and maintain trusting, goal-oriented relationships with families participating in the Dual Generation Initiative.
• Conduct holistic assessments (e.g., Life Self-Sufficiency Matrix) to identify family strengths, priorities and needs.
• Responsible for family engagement programming and services that recognize families as experts in their own lives, that help families develop action plans to achieve their goals, and promote collaboration amongst staff, service providers, and the family to provide barrier free access to available resources and tools.
• Use a holistic approach that addresses the whole family enrolled in the Initiative and their interrelated needs and goals.
• Assist in the implementation of recruitment strategies and assist partners with achieving recruitment goals; encourage and sustain family enrollment and involvement in support programs.
• Co-create and monitor individualized family goal plans, providing consistent support, referrals, and follow-up.
• Offer personalized assistance through monthly coaching sessions, assessments, and family goal-setting activities.
• Implement strategic outreach and recruitment efforts to engage families in prioritized zip codes and/or schools.
• Support and sustain family enrollment and ongoing participation in family-centered programs and services.
• Coordinate and manage parent and resident engagement events to increase access and visibility of resources.
• Build strong relationships with community stakeholders including schools, churches, neighborhood associations, and local businesses.
• Collaborate with internal teams, cross-sector partners, and service providers to align efforts and ensure holistic family support.
• Actively participate in partner meetings, community events, and professional training to stay informed and connected.
• Coordinate and accommodate in-person assessments based on family schedules and needs.
• Maintain timely and accurate family case records, including intake and exit data, case notes, and service tracking using the Salesforce Data System.
• Monitor and report on family progress and enrollment milestones for internal review and program evaluation.
• Demonstrate a culturally responsive and compassionate approach when working with families from diverse backgrounds who may be experiencing barriers related to housing, health, income, or trauma.
• Develop strategies to help families sustain progress and access support beyond the program lifecycle.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by sharing insights and lessons learned from direct family engagement.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission of United Way and the success of the Dual Generation Initiative.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or GED and 4 years of community related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or 2 years of community related work experience plus an associate degree.
• Background working with volunteers, parents and/or residents.
• Knowledge of San Antonio’s westside community.
• Work experience with parents and resident engagement, preferred.
• Prior experience as a participant in a parent support program, preferred.
• Experience working with lower-income and diverse populations.
• Proven work experience performing case management and/or program intake function

• Interacts with team members at all levels of the organization with focus on relationships in the Dual Gen Initiative.
• Bi-lingual ability in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multitask, strong attention to detail and organization; ability to prioritize and complete tasks prior to deadlines.
• Ability to work cooperatively and as a member of a team with parents, staff and the community at large. Always conduct yourself and your appearance in a professional manner
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Facilitation experience and skills.
• Willingness to build public speaking and presentation skills.
• Relationship Building and Community Engagement skills.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and empathy regarding human service issues and project a non-judgmental attitude. towards individuals requiring assistance.
• Prior understanding of the issues and struggles of families in poverty and prior experience working in a direct service role with under resourced families.
• Ability to work with manage a wide variety of populations and personalities with respect, compassion, and dignity.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Basic understanding of social media platforms.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) proficiency preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Normal nonprofit office environment with little exposure to dust, noise and extreme temperatures.
• Extended work on personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
• Reliable transportation required, with the ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events locally, routinely and around the state and nationally, occasionally.
• Monday-Friday, 8:15 am to 4:45 pm work week with occasional evening and weekend hours.
