The Executive Director is responsible for the management of the organization within the guidelines and mission of St. Landry-Evangeline United Way and United Way Worldwide.

This position requires the ability to function within a multi-faceted agency with centralized administrative policy and procedures. It requires exceptional professional, organizational and managerial skills to manage the day-to- day operations of the program in compliance with current federal, state, local, and United Way Worldwide standards and requirements. The position requires professional knowledge and skills sufficient to evaluate program functioning in relation to community needs and to design new programs. It requires a high degree of interpersonal relationship skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the board, personnel, officials, funding sources, community groups, volunteers and agency representatives, as well as state and national entities. It requires the ability to prepare the operating budget of the program and to analyze and monitor the financial position of the program together with the board. It requires the ability to prepare accurate reports in a timely manner and the ability to manage the physical resources of the organization.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

Manages or directs the management of the overall operation of the organization, including campaign, fund development, and special events.

Establishes and directs the implementation of policies and procedures in compliance with funding, licensing, accreditation standards of United Way Worldwide.

Oversees design, marketing, promotion, delivery and quality of programs, products and services.

Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in strong, positive images to relevant stakeholders. This includes the authorized use of branding as required by United Way Worldwide.

Serves as representative to LAUW (Louisiana Association of United Ways), VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters), and any other pertinent associations or groups.

Establishes and maintains effective communication with the Board, community groups, funded agencies, funding sources, staff, clients, media, etc.

Manages or supervises the management of all personnel functions, including the direct hiring, firing, training and evaluation of staff.

Works with the Finance Committee to prepare, analyze and monitor the approved operating budget.

Manages or supervises the management of the physical resources of the program.

Protects the assets of the organization.

Prepares or supervises the preparation of required reports and their submission on a timely basis to the board, and to United Way Worldwide, as well as grantors when appropriate.

Leads the Board in long- and short-range planning for community impact initiatives and community needs assessment.

Performs other duties as negotiated with the Board of Directors.
