The Community Engagement and Programs Coordinator is an engaged member of the Community Impact and Engagement Team who is results-oriented and detail focused. The coordinator will support the Manager of Community Engagement to coordinate the community engagement programs and projects, and oversee volunteer service opportunities. The coordinator has a wide range of responsibilities that support United Way's mission through activities and efforts related to fundraising and community impact and engagement. The coordinator is an engaged team member who actively pursues individual and shared fundraising goals. Key performance indicators and goals will be set each year in partnership with the Director.
- Serve as the volunteer coordinator, manage the volunteer portal, VolunteerConnect, and provide support to end-users.
- Lead the effort to identify, recruit, retain and recognize volunteers.
- Assist the manager with volunteer appreciation activities annually for National Volunteer Month in April.
- Create annual calendar of volunteer service events and outreach opportunities and serve as point for each opportunity. Service opportunities may vary, except for the following that will be held each year: Martin Luther King Jr Day of service, Read Across America, Stamp Out Hunger, Day of Action.
- Assist with annual Day of Caring logistics and volunteer support as directed by manager.
Programs & Projects
- Serve as the coordinator for internal programs including the Clothing for Kids Closet and Little Free Libraries.
Clothing for Kids Closets:
- Ensure clothing and personal hygiene requests are tracked and made available to meet the needs of the students in a timely manner.
- Place orders for items as needed, track inventory in each closet as well as on-site, track expenses and report monthly on budget and specific KPIs to highlight the program usage.
- Coordinate quarterly site visits to closets, meet with administrative representatives at each school to exchange information and develop improvements to the program. Provide frequent communications between visits with administrative reps.
- Coordinate the installation of closets, as needed.
- Coordinate clothing and personal hygiene drives with area businesses, faith-based organizations, schools and civic organizations. Track and report on donations and ensure donors are recognized.
Little Free Libraries:
- manage internal inventory of purchased and donated books
- coordinate monthly delivery of books through Volunteer Connect
- manage library maintenance and repairs in collaboration with community partners and volunteers
- conduct biannual site visits to each library
- In collaboration with the manager and director, strategically plan the installation of new library to bring books to underserved areas in our community.
- Coordinate/schedule volunteers year-round to support all internal programs.
- Serve as the 2-1-1 and SingleCare expert, distributing information to the public and reporting on data to support programs and projects.
