$145,000 – $150,000 POSITION SUMMARY The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial health and operations of United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN). This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A). The CFO will work closely with the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors to ensure the organization's financial sustainability and achieve its mission. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below:

Financial Management:


• Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies and policies.
• Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements,

balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Experience with accrual-based accounting.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Manage the organization's budgeting process, including forecasting revenue and expenses.
• Monitor financial performance and identify areas for improvement through FP&A and KPI

tracking.
• Oversee Investment Portfolio and Strategy.
• Oversee and ensure timeliness and accuracy of payroll, retirement, and benefits processing.

Grant Management:


• Manage the organization's Government, Corporate, and Foundation grant portfolio, including providing budgeting aspects required for grant writing, reporting, and compliance.


• Ensure timely and accurate submission of grant reimbursement requests.

Risk Management:


• Identify and assess financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate them.
• Oversee internal controls and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Ensure the organization is ready for internal and external audits, including Single Audit and

Variance control criteria.
• Manage Vendor negotiations and contracts.
• Review and approval overall contracts.

Team Leadership:


• Lead and manage a team of finance professionals, including the Finance Team, Risk/Audit/Reconciliation Manager, and Facilities, IT & HR Administration Manager.


• Recruit, train, and develop staff.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Work with the Executive Leadership team to ensure adherence to annual budgets and provide

input on overall organizational strategies

Reporting:


• Prepare and present financial reports to the Board of Directors.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the Board.
• Provide reports to Department leads and ensure Revenue and Expenses are properly

allocated within the approved budget category and amounts.

Goals and Objectives
• Develop and implement clear financial goals and objectives aligned with the organization's

mission. Track progress towards achieving financial goals and budget adherence and making necessary adjustments. Ensure that financial resources are allocated effectively to support the organization's strategic priorities.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Experience with Accrual based accounting principles.
• Minimum of fifteen years of experience in financial management with a minimum of five

years in the non-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with grant management and fundraising.
• Ability to lead and manage a team.
• Commitment to the excellence of the mission of UWSN.
• Experience with financial software and systems (MIP, Acumatica, and Salesforce preferred)
• Knowledge of fundraising and donor management practices.
• Experience with financial planning and forecasting.

Technical Knowledge and Equipment
• Proficient computer skills including the ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM, and has a 5-10

years of experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. 15+ years of experience with financial management software and CRM systems. Ability to implement new technologies to improve processes.


• The incumbent in this position may operate any/all of the following equipment: telephone, cell phone, fax machine, computer, printer and related equipment, copy machine, audio-visual equipment, calculator.


• Must have a vehicle, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance. WORK ENVIRONMENT The incumbent may have some local travel (10% - 25%) via personal vehicle. The environment for this position when not traveling is in an office that is clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY In the course of performing this work, the incumbent will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking, and listening. This position requires regular lifting and/or movement of up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or movement of up to 25 pounds.
