Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the United Way of Cascade County will be a dynamic, visionary leader responsible for driving the strategic direction of the organization while ensuring the effective execution of its mission to create positive, lasting change in the community. This position requires a passionate leader who can inspire stakeholders, build strategic partnerships, and champion the organization's initiatives to increase community impact.

The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, donors, and community leaders to identify and address the most pressing needs in the region. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in nonprofit management, a comprehensive understanding of resource development - including fundraising, donor engagement, and strategic partnerships - an in-depth knowledge of community dynamics, and a proven track record of leadership in driving impactful change.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership & Vision
    • Lead the development and execution of the United Way’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the mission of improving community well-being.
    • Champion community impact initiatives focused on youth opportunity, healthy community, and financial security.
    • Engage with the Board of Directors to shape long-term organizational priorities and ensure effective oversight.
    • Evaluate and assess community needs through data-driven analysis and feedback from stakeholders, ensuring the organization’s efforts are focused on high-priority areas.
  2. Community Engagement & Partnership Development
    • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, representing United Way in the community, with key stakeholders, and with media.
    • Build and nurture strategic relationships with local organizations, government entities, businesses, philanthropists, and community leaders to advance the organization's mission.
    • Foster collaboration and mobilize community partners to collectively address key social challenges.
  3. Fundraising & Resource Development
    • Lead fundraising efforts to ensure the financial sustainability of United Way’s programs and services, including corporate partnerships, major gifts, grants, and individual donations.
    • Oversee the design and execution of annual campaigns and special fundraising initiatives.
    • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors to expand revenue sources.
  4. Operational Management
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of the United Way, including staffing, programs, and budget management.
    • Ensure effective program evaluation and outcomes measurement to gauge the impact of United Way’s initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability within the organization.
  5. Board and Staff Leadership
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to a dedicated team of staff, fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.
    • Work with the Board of Directors to recruit, retain, and develop high-performing staff and volunteers.
    • Prepare and present regular reports to the Board on organizational performance, financial health, and community impact.
  6. Advocacy & Public Policy
    • Advocate for public policies and programs that align with United Way’s mission and positively impact the community.
    • Serve as an influential voice for social change, helping to raise awareness of key community issues and solutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, with a track record of success in nonprofit management, resource development, community relations, or related fields.
    • Strong understanding of community dynamics and social issues, particularly in the areas of youth opportunity, healthy community, and financial security.
    • Experience working with boards of directors and a variety of community stakeholders.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to think strategically and act decisively to drive change.
    • Proven ability to inspire and motivate diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Expertise in fundraising and resource development, with experience in managing multimillion-dollar budgets.
    • High level of organizational and analytical skills.
  • Education:
    • A bachelor’s degree in business, nonprofit management, social sciences, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
United Way of Cascade County offers a competitive annual salary range of $90,000 to $115,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, a retirement plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development. Relocation assistance is also available.
