Associate, Free Tax Prep
The Free Tax Prep Associate will support United Way’s mission to strengthen economic mobility and well-being in Greater Cincinnati by supporting the operations and functions of the Free Tax Prep (FTP) initiative, including, but not limited to, managing volunteer outreach, data gathering and preparation of required IRS forms, growing new FTP sites, and managing an increasingly large inventory of tax site supplies and technology. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, technically savvy, and quick to learn new skills. A basic understanding of individual income tax law is not necessary but would be helpful.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
- IRS Administrative Requirements: Collect and compile IRS required forms and documentation from over 30 FTP sites, explaining IRS rules, and providing personalized technical support to volunteer site coordinators.
- Technology and Supplies: Manage technology and supply inventory for FTP sites; canvas sites for supply needs and provide supply delivery or pick-up, pre- and post-tax season.
- Calendar Maintenance: Create, customize and maintain individual web-based appointment calendars for over 30 tax sites.
- Corporate Site Liaison: Provide relationship support to all corporate partner volunteer groups, including additional administrative assistance, personal contact, volunteer encouragement, and on-site support and collaboration to create valuable corporate engagement experiences.
- Volunteer Recruitment, Management, and Training: Collaborate with volunteer and marketing departments to assist in targeted volunteer recruitment efforts. Assist in managing the volunteer journey including registration for orientation/training, communication, follow up, and
- site placement. Maintain and update the volunteer information platform, Mobilize. Manage and support the volunteer training team.
- Special Volunteer Groups: Provide onsite assistance and support for AmeriCorps NCCC teams and future youth or young professional volunteer groups.
- 211 Liaison and Training: Support 211 staff by monitoring chat, answering questions, and responding to Care Suite requests for client help, seeking tax expertise when needed. Prepare 211 training materials and assist with 211 FTP SOPs.
- Summer Tax Prep: Manage appointment reminder calls, site set up and breakdown, client greeting and intake, and troubleshoot tax return issues. Monitor for Care Suite callback requests and manage GetYourRefund and volunteers for virtual summer tax prep. Act as the Site Coordinator as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
- One to three years of professional work experience
- Must be able to certify as an IRS advanced volunteer tax preparer and site coordinator (training provided)
- Demonstrated familiarity with Office 365 required. Demonstrated ability to utilize the internet for research and to operate across multiple data software systems and volunteer communication and management platforms required.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong collaboration and relationship building skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; familiarity with project management software, such as Asana, is helpful.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Local travel within the regional area, reliable personal transportation and a current driver’s license are required.
- 3-5 days of alternative work hours (evenings and Saturdays) per month during tax season and pre-season (Nov – April)

SALARY: $46,000 plus competitive benefits package
