
Assistant Director of Cole Society
The Assistant Director of Cole Society reports to the Sr. Director of Cole Society and Membership Giving. The Membership Giving team plays a key role in the Office of Development through planning and execution of individual engagement strategies and opportunities, inside and outside of the workplace.
Following internal policies and best practices relating to portfolio management and fundraising, the ADCS will work collaboratively with multiple Development teams, and other UWGA staff, to build and manage a fluid portfolio of up to 150+ individuals currently giving at the Cole Society level of $1,000+. The ADCS has primary responsibility for retention and growth of current Cole Society donors and acquisition of previous topline donors through development of a comprehensive strategy to grow donors within their portfolio.
The ADCS will work closely with the Major Gifts, Corporate Relations, and Donor Communities and Connections teams, as well as colleagues across departments, volunteers, boards, community leaders and a variety of others, and must be collaborative, professional, innovative, responsible and more while maintaining a strong work ethic and attention to detail. It is also essential that the ADCS be well versed in both the art and science of individual fundraising and have significant experience with donor retention and acquisition, closing gifts, collaborating with others to close gifts, and managing individual portfolios. The ADCS will spend approximately 80% of their time each month on personal visits with prospects and will report approximately 10-15 substantive visits per month.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The ADCS will be responsible for the following goals, duties, and responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage a productive, fluid portfolio of 150+ prospects through best practices.
- Secure no fewer than 10-15 substantive contacts per month.
- Make all contacts necessary via phone, email, other, to achieve the above-mentioned results.
- Document all data necessary to track said goals through the timely submission of activity within the UWGA CRM, as required by internal policies.
- Exceed all yearly revenue and metric-driven goals as set by Office of Development Leadership.
- Promote collaboration, recognizing our shared goals, and regularly collaborate with colleagues within the Office of Development and other departments as needed.
- Ensure the proper stewardship of individuals. Increase awareness and knowledge among prospects, donors and other key stakeholders about United Way of Greater Atlanta’s mission.
- Develop a solid and detailed working knowledge of United Way’s funding priorities and products.

Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required.
- 3-5 years fundraising experience to include the demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate and close gifts.
- Advanced interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Organization skills for a fast-paced work environment.
- Microsoft Office knowledge including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
- Experience with CRM/database management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and mature judgment. Ability to act with discretion in all matters.
