<h2>Position Summary&nbsp;</h2>The Staff Accountant supports the organization by providing a variety of specialized and complex record keeping duties associated with processing and analyzing accounting transactions including review of budget to actual data, and reconciling schedules relating to the general ledger, grants, programs, and other donor related activity.&nbsp;<h2>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</h2>The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Prepare and analyze departmental budget to actual reports according to finance policy, procedures, and schedule.</li><li>Review general ledger detail for accuracy and compliance with organization policy and GAAP.</li><li>Prepare journal entries as directed including a variety of complex and recurring accounting-related reports, and summaries.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare the monthly bank account reconciliations.</li><li>Assist with or oversee the cyclical closing processes, monthly, quarterly, and annually.</li><li>Manage, prepare and analyze reconciliation schedules for various general ledger accounts.</li><li>Manage and backup the Accounts Payable process.</li><li>Monitor and maintain weekly cash flow report.</li><li>Assist in the preparation of schedules to support grants, programs, and donor related activity.</li><li>Review monthly cash receipts process.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist with Annual Budget and Annual Audit and other projects within the department.</li><li>Maintain compliance with accounting standards, government regulations, and tax laws.</li><li>Assist with the organization’s disaster response efforts.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h2>Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)</h2><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred</li><li>2+ years progressive accounting/bookkeeping experience in public accounting or similar work environment</li><li>Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting MIP software preferred</li><li>Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software and general ledgers</li><li>Strong organization, oral and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines</li><li>Ability to promote excellent performance in self and others</li><li>Ability to solve problems independently, effectively, and creatively</li><li>Demonstrated attention to details and ability to work in a fast paced environment</li><li>Ability to conduct research, study and synthesize data, and establish priorities</li><li>Flexibility and ability to work on multiple high-priority projects</li><li>Demonstrated outstanding accounting skills</li></ul><h2>Physical Demands and Work Environment&nbsp;</h2>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Staff Accountant

This position is located in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola County, grant funded and seasonal. POSITION SUMMARY Manages daily VITA tax site operations to ensure compliance with IRS standards, accurate tax preparation, and effective volunteer management while supporting the Financial Stability Initiatives program through material distribution, client communication, and appointment scheduling.
