Position Title Vice President of Development

Position Summary: The Vice President of Development serves as a key strategic leader, 
guiding the Development Team in designing, implementing, and supporting all fundraising 
initiatives for the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties 
(CF/UWVFC). This position provides vision, direction, and oversight for all development 
activities — including annual campaigns, major gifts, planned giving, and community 
engagement — to achieve organizational, departmental, and individual goals. The VP of 
Development ensures alignment with the organization’s strategic plan, fosters a culture of 
philanthropy, and equips the team to prioritize efforts that maximize impact. 

CF/UWVFC professionals are expected to model and champion the organization’s core 
competencies: mission-focused, relationship-oriented, collaborator, results-driven, and 
brand steward. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
 
Drives Revenue &amp; Impact 
 • Develop and communicate the strategy and vision for organizational fundraising campaigns, aligning 
annual development goals with the strategic plan. 
 • Guide the Development Team in setting goals, prioritizing tasks, and managing resources to meet 
revenue targets and advance mission impact. 
 • Utilize the CSuite database to record, monitor, and evaluate donor engagement activities. 
 • Support fund development presentations and donor engagement strategies, including Foundation 
products and planned giving efforts. 
 • Cultivate relationships with community groups to identify prospective donors and campaign leads. 

 
Strategic Relationship Building 
 • Build and deepen relationships with donors and prospects year-round, connecting their interests to the 
organization’s work. 
 • Expand the network of donors by maintaining a strong presence in the community. 
 • Collaborate with staff, board, and volunteers to align efforts and communicate progress toward goals. 


Effective &amp; Engaging Communicator 
 • Present the CF/UWVFC message to businesses, employees, and community groups. 
 • Listen to donors’ and prospects’ interests to match them with meaningful giving opportunities. 
 • Assist in developing marketing materials to share organizational impact. 
 • Provide leadership and support for Women United chapters in Flagler and Volusia.

Working Conditions &amp; Physical Requirements: 
Work is carried out in a controlled, agreeable environment as generally represented by normal office 
conditions. Employees may be required to assist with or attend various offsite events related to 
programs or fund raising that are scheduled evenings and/or weekends. These events may require 
several hours on your feet and assisting with heavy lifting and carrying.

</ul>Communicate with Purpose:
<ul><li>As a storyteller, you will craft compelling narratives that resonate with our donors and inspire ongoing financial support.</li>
<li>Coordinate the creation of external marketing materials that not only promote opportunities for donor engagement but also embody the spirit of our shared mission.</li>
</ul>Measure the Ripple Effect:
<ul><li>Set, track, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to fundraising to showcase the impact of giving.</li>
<li>You’ll also measure KPIs that go beyond financial support when you track effect of your efforts in community growth, increased donation amounts, elevated engagement scores, and overall retention.</li>
</ul>Minimum Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in a related field.</li>
<li>Preference for a minimum of two years of experience as a community or brand manager, demonstrating a passion for building and transforming relationships.</li>
<li>Proficient in MS products (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel).</li>
<li>Familiarity with CRM software; Salesforce experience is a plus.</li>
<li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills that go beyond words – the ability to build emotional connections.</li>
<li>Willingness to drive to events and meetings within the regional area, including some evenings and weekends.</li>
