ABOUT UNITED WAY OF LEE, HENDRY, and GLADES 
United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and (UWLHG) is a volunteer driven organization dedicated to improving 
the quality of life for all people in our community. This is accomplished through fundraising, fund distribution 
(90+ partners), community building, volunteer advancement, and information and referral. UWLHG is a $16 
million nonprofit social services organization, with 75+employees in four locations with the main campus 
being located at 7273 Concourse Drive, Fort Myers, FL. The majority of funding is from private donations 
although UWLHG also receives local, state, and federal grants. 
 
Job Summary 
 
The Community Resource Specialist is the direct liaison with people seeking information and help from health 
and human service programs. It is the responsibility of the Resource Specialist to work with those in crisis and 
in need of services to ensure that they receive prompt and accurate information regarding human services. 
This communication will require problem solving and follow-up services. This position will be cross-trained to 
facilitate 988 (formerly known as the Suicide Hotline) and Mission United (veteran-focused) calls and will also 
be required to complete associated certifications within three months of being eligible (Inform USA certified as 
well as additional 988-related trainings). 

 
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions 

• Provides high quality Information and Referral Services to both individuals and agencies. 

• Assists clients and agencies with problem solving to arrive at helpful solutions. Types of calls will include 
basic needs, mental health (possible suicide threats), homelessness and medical requests. 

• Assist/screens clients applying for various programs including Affordable Healthcare, Help Me Grow, Mission 
United, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), Medicaid, and Food Stamps. 

• Conducts comprehensive needs and service assessments via telephone, email or Text/Chat 

• Maintains the highest level of confidentiality of client information. 

• Accurately documents client assessments and referrals in program data system. 

• Assists with the data management and quality assurance process of United Way 2-1-1 by: 
o Surveying agencies in the 2-1-1 database at regular intervals, but at least annually. 
o Updating existing agency and program profiles after reported changes have been verified in a timely 

manner upon receipt of submissions.

o Conducting interviews, as needed, with appropriate agency contacts, asking clarifying questions in 
a concise manner, and remaining courteous and professional throughout the process. 

o Maintains an audit trail for each organization that shows number of attempts to update, who 
completed the updates and when updates were successfully completed. 

• Actively participates in ongoing supervision, training and team meetings as needed. 

• May represent United Way 211 by participating in community meetings either in person or by 
electronic means. 

• Contributes to the overall success of United Way by performing other essential duties and 
responsibilities as assigned.

United Way 211 First Responder/veteran Care Coordinator

United Way of West Florida is seeking an Achieve Escambia Manager to join our Community Impact Department to nurture and grow the existing civic infrastructure to improve educational outcomes from cradle through career in Escambia County.&nbsp;The Manager will facilitate community-wide engagement; oversee the Collective Action Networks (CANS) (Kindergarten Readiness Collective Action Network (KCAN) and Local College Access Network (LCAN) as well as the data committee; and otherwise oversee the day-to-day operations of the community initiative Achieve Escambia. organizational change efforts. The SVP/COO will provide supervision and 
oversight to staff teams and departments, in addition to representing the 
organization in the CEO’s absence in public meetings, events and with volunteers 
and other stakeholders to further United Way’s interests.

ï· Manage department budget and expenses including planning and management of budget 
line items for specific outcomes.

ï· Counsel and assist staff in professional growth and development within UWEPC and the 
community. Conduct timely performance evaluations.

Budgeting and Risk Management

ï· Oversee the contract approval process to ensure contractual terms and cost effectiveness. 

ï· Participate in the financial internal control system as required. 

ï· Manage progress towards revenue goals throughout the year, providing monthly

revenue projected. 

ï· Ensure accurate and detailed donor and account records in order to analyze deployment

Community Resource Coordinator

Overview:&nbsp;Do you want to help meet the tangible needs of local nonprofits? Thrive on building relationships with a variety of audiences? Enjoy working in a fast-paced, active role? If so, apply to join the United Way team as a full-time GIV Warehouse Associate. In this role, you will assist with the daily operation of our&nbsp;<a href="https://unitedwayplains.org/give-items-of-value/" target="_blank">Give Items of Value</a>&nbsp;(GIV) warehouse. The GIV program accepts in-kind donations from local companies and national retailers that are available to nonprofits for free. Donations range from office furniture and supplies to housewares, hygiene items, holiday décor and much more. Last year, 280 nonprofits visited GIV and obtained over $3 million worth of free goods, which helped lower their overhead expenses and funnel more financial resources into programming to meet the needs of their clients.&nbsp;Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment, following all safety protocols.&nbsp;</li><li>Communicate effectively and positively with not-for-profit agencies, volunteers, and local donors; build strong relationships.&nbsp;</li><li>Regularly consolidate, refill, and adjust locations of merchandise in the warehouse.</li><li>Support warehouse staff with volunteer groups, donation pick-ups, and duties needed for accurate inventory control.</li><li>Perform outbound counts for the items being obtained by the non-profit agencies.</li><li>Assist with various other tasks necessary to ensure GIV program is successful and impactful.&nbsp;</li></ul>Requirements and Qualifications:<ul><li>Full-time, primarily Monday-Friday during normal business hours; however, some flexibility is required to occasionally be available early mornings, evenings or weekends</li><li>Position is carried out primarily in a warehouse environment.&nbsp; Extended period of standing is required, along with ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
