Goal: United Way of Northern Utah (UWNU) convenes rigorous and effective partnerships to improve the health, education, and financial stability of every person. Volunteers play a critical role in strengthening relationships, building a sense of pride in community development, and empowering programs to increase their impact. As such, UWNU is seeking a Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator to lead our organization in recruiting volunteers to build capacity for our internal programs and provide guidance and support to UWNU departments and programs in volunteer management and retention best practices. This position will enhance and develop equitable, meaningful volunteer opportunities to connect and inspire through year-round engagement and communication. In addition, the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator will facilitate an internal UWNU Outreach Committee to help organize our community event tabling efforts, support promoting a cohesive brand, and prioritize efforts based on capacity and opportunity. Proactive in nature, UWNU seeks a self-motivated candidate who is confident in actively engaging with volunteers and managing competing priorities.

Build and Uphold Organization-Wide Best Practices for Volunteer Management and Retention
- Create a volunteer retention process to ensure the long-term success of our recruitment efforts, including appreciation strategies, recognition, leadership opportunities, and professional development.
- Create a consistent and cohesive volunteer management process to improve the volunteer experience and how UWNU organizationally tracks, onboards, and manages volunteers.
- Attend professional development opportunities as they arise with UServe and other volunteer management support organizations and disseminate information on best practices on management of volunteers throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with internal colleagues to plan and implement volunteer appreciation events for all UWNU volunteers.
Coordinate UWNU Outreach Efforts
- Organize attendance and be the point of contact for UWNU for all outreach event requests and prioritize (A) which programs, services, and opportunities to promote at the events and (B) which events to attend based on capacity and opportunity.
- Facilitate the UWNU Outreach Committee
