VITA Program Coordinator (Independent Contractor)
The VITA Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, ensuring that eligible individuals in the community receive free, accurate tax preparation services in compliance with IRS guidelines. This role includes recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, maintaining program compliance, and fostering strong relationships with community partners to enhance service delivery and outreach.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The VITA Program Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include managing the VITA program, recruiting and overseeing volunteers, ensuring IRS compliance, and handling program reporting and documentation.
- Program Coordination:
- Oversee daily operations of the VITA program, ensuring smooth and timely delivery of tax preparation services.
- Ensure tax services are provided to qualified individuals according to IRS guidelines and deadlines.
- Volunteer Recruitment and Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to provide tax assistance.
- Organize and lead volunteer orientations and training sessions.
- Maintain a positive, supportive environment for volunteers.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure full compliance with all IRS VITA program requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, including client interactions, volunteer hours, and program activities.
- Submit all necessary documentation, forms, and reports to the Agency.
- Program Reporting and Evaluation:
- Track and report key performance metrics (volunteer engagement, client satisfaction, program outcomes).
- Provide regular program updates to the Agency.
- Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between volunteers, clients, and the Agency.
- Other Duties:
- Attend meetings, trainings, and events related to the VITA program.
- Collaborate with Agency staff and community partners to improve program operations and identify new opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in program coordination and volunteer management.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Familiarity with IRS VITA program guidelines preferred, but training will be provided.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible working hours; evening and weekend availability may be required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); remote work tools experience is a plus.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Contract Fee:Negotiable, starting at $25,000 for the contract term, paid in semi-monthly installments.
- Time Off: Contractor is entitled to Agency staff holidays, considered as paid time off with no impact on compensation.
- Work Schedule: Flexible hours, remote work possible; evenings and weekends may be required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Remote work flexibility, with occasional office visits as required to meet with Agency staff, volunteers, or partners.
- Contractor will be expected to provide own work equipment (computer, internet, phone).
