
Vice President, Technology Operations & Digital Transformation
Position Summary
(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)
The Vice President, Technology Operations & Digital Transformation is a senior executional leadership and forward-looking role responsible for driving operational excellence, technology modernization, and cross-enterprise platform integration. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader ensures that core technology services are robust, scalable, and aligned with the mission and long-term vision of the organization. The role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day management of critical systems, vendor ecosystems, business continuity planning, and enterprise-wide technology initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Service Excellence
- Lead and evolve the organization’s technology operations, including infrastructure, and IT service management (ITSM).
- Co-lead evolving enterprise platforms (e.g., CRM, ERP, data environments).
- Establish and manage performance benchmarks, KPIs, and SLAs for all technology services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase reliability, reduce cost, and enhance the end-user experience.
Digital Transformation Strategy
- Partner with the CTO to define and execute the digital transformation roadmap.
- Lead initiatives that modernize core systems, introduce automation, and increase the use of AI and data-driven technologies.
- Promote the adoption of cloud-native technologies and emerging tools aligned with enterprise goals.
Business Continuity & Risk Management
- Develop and lead the organization’s business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
- Oversee risk assessments and delivery of mitigation strategies to ensure resilience of key systems and services.
- Coordinate enterprise-wide continuity exercises and ensure compliance with policy, audit, and regulatory standards.
Enterprise Architecture & Platform Oversight
- Oversee integration and optimization of enterprise platforms, ensuring scalability and interoperability across business units.
- Provide architectural guidance for new technology investments and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Support enterprise data governance, cybersecurity practices, and compliance frameworks in partnership with key stakeholders.
Vendor & Budget Management
- Manage key vendor relationships and ensure delivery of value through negotiated service contracts.
- Collaborate with Finance and Procurement and oversight and management responsibility of the technology operations budget and capital planning.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in project delivery and investment prioritization.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of directors, and operational leads.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and equity.
- Champion inclusive technology practices and ensure alignment with organizational values.
Key Elements of the Role
The VP, Technology Operations & Digital Transformation will be accountable for driving the following critical elements of organizational transformation:
- Technology Adoption: Leading the implementation and integration of advanced digital technologies including cloud computing, big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI).
- Process Modernization: Streamlining and automating core business processes to enhance operational efficiency and reduce overall costs.
- Customer Engagement: Elevating the quality of service and stakeholder engagement through digital platforms, data-informed outreach, and multi-channel communication.
- Innovation: Creating an ecosystem that encourages experimentation, agile development, and innovation in products, services, and delivery models.
- Cultural Shift: Supporting a shift in mindset across the organization toward digital fluency, adaptability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field; master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum 12 years of progressive technology leadership experience, with a strong record in IT operations, enterprise platforms, and digital transformation.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing business continuity and disaster recovery in complex environments.
- Proven success leading large-scale transformation projects and technology modernization efforts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cloud computing (Microsoft Azure, AWS), enterprise systems (Salesforce), and IT service management frameworks.
- Excellent executive communication skills and a track record of partnering effectively with C-level leaders and cross departmental functions.

SALARY STATEMENT
The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $195,000 to $215,000 per year. Salary is determined by several factors including applicant’s knowledge, skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
