
Vice President of Programs and Partnerships
POSITION SUMMARY
(Eligible for Hybrid/ 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)
The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships, International Network (IN) will provide strategic programmatic support to the International Network team at United Way Worldwide (UWW) and will serve as a key point of contact and liaison between UWW and the community of United Way Network Partners that operate in 35 countries and territories outside of the United States. The Vice President will act as a trusted thought partner and resource to the International Network, as members identify and respond to complex challenges and promising opportunities around the world.
Reporting to the EVP, International Network, the Vice President will partner with and support the UWW and IN teams to design, implement, expand, and assess programmatic offerings and impact across UWW’s four impact areas: 1) youth opportunity, 2) healthy community, 3) financial security, and 4) community resiliency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION:
The Vice President of Programs and Partnerships will:
Programs and Strategy
- Support the International Network’s Regional Offices (RO) in Africa, Latin America, Europe, and Asia and its Network Partners within those regions with developing and aligning programs and activities across UWW’s 4 impact areas and in accordance with the Thriving United Way Framework.
- Collaborate with UWW's Global Network Advancement Team to support the ROs and Network Partners with defining, monitoring, and evaluating program quality, impact, and outcomes across the International Network.
- Manage and support the Regional Offices with 1) providing programmatic and organizational support to the Network Partners within their region, and 2) implementing activities and meeting the goals outlined in their respective regional strategic plans
- Develop processes and tools to support the collection and sharing of information, best practices, lessons learned, etc. generated from programs throughout the International Network.
- Partner with the EVP and the Director of Network Membership and Development to assess Network Partners’ performance and impact, including monitoring high-performing and under-performing members and supporting the development of a long-term International Network growth strategy (including expansion or contraction), as appropriate.
Strategic Partnerships
- Collaborate with the International Network and Development teams to identify partnership opportunities with philanthropy, public and private sector champions, and nonprofit peers to secure the resources and relationships needed to support projects across the International Network and UWW’s four impact areas.
- Develop and maintain a strong relationship with the Development team - coordinating and sharing information with team members to advance fundraising and “friend-raising” efforts.
- Identify and pursue strategic networking opportunities to amplify UWW’s presence and voice in global conversations and convenings to better highlight UWW’s role as a player in the international development space.
- Partner with the Marketing and Communications department, as needed, to generate and lift up stories of impact that highlight UWW’s community-driven approach across the International Network.
International Network Team Leadership and Support
- Work with the International Network team leadership and UWW leadership to identify and recommend growth opportunities to expand the organization’s footprint, as appropriate
- Assist in the development and implementation of UWW and International Network goals and priorities, including the UWW Transformation and IN strategic plan.
- Collaborate with other departments within UWW to identify common issues across program areas and develop joint activities and related resource development opportunities, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with UWW’s Executive Leadership Team, the EVP, the regional Vice Presidents, and other key internal stakeholders to inform the culture and priorities of the UWW global organization, as appropriate.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum requirements include:
- Advanced degree, with at least 10 years of management experience
- Unwavering commitment to quality programs and the ability to achieve strategic and programmatic objectives
- Demonstrated experience with developing and operationalizing programs and strategies that have launched a program or organization to the next stage of growth and impact
- Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models, and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of senior professionals towards common organizational goals
- Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, and grow partnerships across a variety of stakeholders that increase access to the resources and relationships needed to advance the organization’s mission and goals
- Experience working across multiple cultures, working styles, and other differences.
- Strong analytical ability to assess needs, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes effectively
- Possess a sense of possibility in mindset and vision, and ability to lead with creativity, innovation, and initiative to address opportunities and challenges within the Region
- Ability to thrive in a complex environment with multiple priorities, navigate ambiguity, and create pathways or solutions where none currently exist.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal and external partners and organizations, providing exposure for UWW’s program impact across a variety of contexts.

SALARY STATEMENT
The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $175,000-$200,000 per year.
