Staff Accountant Position Description

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITES
United Way of Weld County is currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our Finance Team. This position will be the lead individual for processing revenue for the Finance department, perform general ledger maintenance and analysis, and will assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Finance and Accounting expertise
- Campaign Accounting Lead
- Validates pledge and payment processing and ensures accuracy of transactions of donor database software (Andar) for import to Finance software (Abila MIP)
- Assists, when needed, with pledge and payment processing in donor database software
- Designations - Data input, research, information collection, quarterly payouts and reporting per United Way Worldwide Standard M
- Assists in any campaign reporting requested by leadership
- Processes Annual Receipts, including childcare tax credit receipts and HCTC receipts
- Research and enter various income deposits into accounting software
- Monthly, quarterly and annual closing tasks
- Monthly bank, endowment, and investment journal entries
- Monthly import of Andar transactions into Abila software
- Monthly balancing between Andar software and Abila software
- Assist with monthly financial statements
- Generation of special reports as needed
- Assist VP Finance with budget preparation and input
- Assist with audit preparation
- Provide technical advice/support and troubleshooting assistance for Finance related IT issues
United Way of Weld County General
- Support and promote the mission, values, goals and objectives of United Way of Weld County, including representing United Way of Weld County in professional organizations and the community (as assigned).
- Support fundraising efforts of United Way and activities that support United Way.
- Support United Way annual events, disaster response, and other activities as assigned.
- Participate in staff meetings and in service opportunities.
- Contribute to organizational promotions including writing promotional copy, proofreading informational and campaign materials, participation in outreach, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
- 2+ years’ experience in accounting including general ledger and journal entries required
- 2+ years’ nonprofit experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with accounting software, Abila MIP preferred
- Experience with donor processing systems, Andar preferred
- Experience with NACHA/ACH/EFT origination and collection
POSITION INFORMATION
- Full-time (40 hours), non-exempt
- Salary Range (H9) $26.21-$31.32 per hour
- Supervisory duties: n/a
- Reports to: Controller & VP of Finance
- Eligible for remote work: Hybrid after 90 days of employment with supervisors’ approval
- Background and credit check required
