This position is also responsible for the oversight of the Coalition community relations, initiatives, and media plan and relations. (grant funded)

(grant funded) Primary Job Responsibilities & Duties: Serve as the Administrative Lead for the Coalition on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention and its Board of Governors. Has the primary duty of coordinating and leading the day-to-day operations of the Coalition team. Responsible for the supervision, coaching, training and development of their direct reports. Responsible for the development, execution and management (including monitoring) of the Coalition Prevention Strategic Plan. Acts as a liaison between United Way Coalition on Substance Abuse and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) prevention team and FADA. Represent the Coalition, cultivates relationships with media contacts and sponsors, assuring proper follow-up to assure excellent customer service. Monitor relevant community indicators as it relates to Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention. Champion the Coalition research and advocacy efforts. Measure progress on key outcomes as well as working with community leaders to strengthen the community’s abilities to identify, address and fund priority issues as it relates to Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention.
Other Job Duties: Responsible for the Coalition volunteer relations, training and activities. Coordinates, facilitates and participates in community, regional and state planning activities as it relates to the Coalition Coalition work. Has responsibility for the operation and evaluation of all Coalition initiatives, programs and services. Develops and Implements policies and procedures for the Coalition on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention. Recruits, develops and motivates volunteers to enhance the community building and efforts and to support the day-to-day administration of the Coalition. Coordinates activities and communications with appropriate organizations, i.e., state, county, local coalitions, networks, councils, etc., as they relate to the coalition work. Creates informational documents, gives presentations, and acts as the agency’s lead authority, both internally and externally on behavioral health and substance abuse prevention initiatives. Formulates, writes and prepares newsletters, collateral and educational materials. Plans, develops and implements initiatives for community building and coalition work to meet the requirement of the Department of Children and Families and the United Way of Broward County Coalition on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention. Working in collaboration with the Vice President of Health Initiatives, the Vice President of Marketing and the Director of the Coalition on developing media plans and environmental campaigns directed toward educating and encouraging public interest around Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention. Creates informational documents, gives presentations, and acts as the agency’s lead authority, both internally and externally, on Coalition Initiatives. Facilitates regular planning sessions and creates an information-sharing network among the Coalition committee members. Formulates, implements, and evaluates Coalition initiatives to assess outcomes and overall effectiveness, collecting qualitative/quantitative data. Maintains all records and documentation for all Coalition activities necessary for accountability. Facilitate partnerships and collaborations between multiple sectors of the community that respond to problems by implementing plans that lead to measurable, population-level reductions in the use of alcohol and other drugs and their harmful consequences. Serves on various internal/external committees – locally, state and nationally as designated and needed for the benefit of UBCBHSA. Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.
Supervises: Directors, Managers, Prevention Specialists and Volunteers
Education & Experience: Master’s degree in social work, business administration, urban affairs, public administration, mental health or other related fields. Seven years of progressive experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity in a social service agency, hospital and/or government institution. Experience conducting research and evaluating data preferred. Experience in community organizing, program development, legislative affairs and/or government relations preferably. Minimum five years of experience leading large teams and managing state and federal grants. Strong fiscal/budgeting experience required. Supervisory experience working with mid-size to large teams required. Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole strongly desired. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
Environment & Physical Demands: The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned). Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration.
