UNITED WAY OF HANCOCK COUNTY RESEARCH/DATA ANALYST – VULNERABLE CHILDREN’S INITIATIVE – AmeriCorps VISTA REPORTS TO CEO LOCATION In person STATUS Variable options

PURPOSE The United Way of Hancock County is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Research and Data Analyst that will assist with grant research and program development. POSITION SUMMARY The candidate will play a key role in advancing UWHC’s Vulnerable Children’s Initiative (VCI) by helping to identify opportunities, interpret and use data to assist with crafting compelling grant proposals, and support community solutions and the efforts of the Community Impact Manager. UWHC’s VCI works to ensure every child in Hancock County has access to a supportive environment conducive to their well-being and educational success. Because this is a new effort at UWHC the best candidate will be a self-starter with a proven ability to manage a variety of data and software platforms and to help develop, systematically organize, monitor and track program development. Creativity, analysis, results and details will be key components to the role.AM Program Development (30%)
• Collaborate with the Community Impact Manager to identify external funding opportunities

aligned with the VCI initiative by leveraging community reporting and data
• Assist in the development of comprehensive and compelling grant proposals, integrating

data analytic insights to enhance proposal content
• Conduct research and utilize data analysis to strengthen grant applications and provide

evidence-based support
• Assist with the implementation of systems to protect vulnerable children and strengthen

families.
• Collaborative efforts between local nonprofits, government agencies, and community

leaders to address the needs of vulnerable children.

Research Support (50%)
• Offer guidance on researching and identifying potential funding opportunities, emphasizing

the use of data reports to learn about the needs of the community and UWHC initiatives
• Provide research assistance in grant-related projects, utilizing data analytics tools and

techniques
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation efforts as needed for proposals,

ensuring a data-driven approach to grant writing
• Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations, incorporating data

findings to enhance credibility of grant proposals

Administrative Support(20%)
• Collaborate with the Community Impact Manager to identify optimal grant opportunities

utilizing data-driven insights for strategic decision-making


• Organize and manage database and spreadsheet records of grant applications, submissions, approvals, and outcomes


• Collaborate with the UWHC team to gain insights into the inner workings of the non-profit industry

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• Strong work ethic with the ability to fit in with the UWHC service based culture
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus on data analytics, research, or a related field; undergraduate

students with relevant experience considered
• Proven interest in improving people’s lives either through volunteerism or work-related

projects
• Understand the meaning behind data and its potential applications to grant submissions
• Research techniques

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven research and analytical skills, especially in the context of data analytics
• Detail-oriented and highly organized
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
• Proven ability to adapt to technology and implement tech solutions
• Ability to learn new software platforms to represent data, progress dashboards, and our

program development
• Cross functional team – culture and a whatever it takes attitude are valued

Availability 10-40 hours in person per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate meetings and deadlines related to UWHC initiatives
