ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

United Way of Johnson County is located in Franklin, Indiana, and serves Johnson County residents each year through 16 funded agency partners and 8 direct service programs.  United Way of Johnson County is overseen by a volunteer board of directors who ensure that we meet our mission “to organize caring people to identify and meet human needs in our community”.  

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary purpose of the Volunteer and Engagement Specialist is to execute the core programs of the United Way of Johnson County through volunteer engagement.     
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

*Assist the Associate Director with the allocations process including preparation of training, site visit and deliberation materials. Assist in preparation of meetings, and collateral materials.
*Attend the agency relations committee to report on the program activities.
*Develop and implement programs, services and products for the Operation Bundle Up program including collateral materials, website management, and promotional aspects. Recruit and supervise the committee and event volunteers. With the assistance of volunteers, work with collection sites, the in-kind cleaning company and other entities to collect the needed amount of coats, hats, gloves etc.
*Develop and implement programs, services and products for the Christmas Angels program including collateral materials, website management. Recruit and supervise the volunteer committee, in office volunteers and event volunteers. Assist with data entry and mailings for the program. Management of all aspects of Christmas Assistance including the application process for assistance and engagement of family sponsors and gift sponsors.
*Be responsible from start to finish all components of the Day of Caring including: all promotional aspects, solicitation of sponsorships; website management; recruitment of projects and volunteers; staffing Day of Caring committee; overseeing all aspects of the matching process.
*Develop and implement programs, services and products for the Fast Track program including collateral materials, website management and all promotional aspects. Recruit and supervise the committee and event volunteers. In order to collect the needed amount of school supplies, work with volunteers to recruit collection sites, and plan /implement the Stuff the Bus Event. Manage the school supply inventory through purchasing, donations, distribution and track carryover inventory. Work with schools to coordinate the individual distribution events including recruitment of appropriate resource partners.
*For all programs make sure volunteer information and data is maintained in outlook and Andar.
Be the lead staff person in making sure that Charity Tracker is maintained and promoted with potential agencies who might utilize the program.

*Make employee presentations.
*Maintain and update data files on campaign software computer including but not limited to: annual update of major accounts, volunteer committees etc.
*Responsible for researching and writing grants to supplement the income stream for the various programs United Way supports.
*Be the staff lead for volunteer management and recruitment.
*Assist in Special Events such as Campaign Kickoff and Annual Celebration.
*Back up to the administrative coordinator for phone coverage.
*Review incoming mail and distribute accordingly. Open mail and records "cash deposits" in spreadsheets.
