Position Summary

United Way Space Coast is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next President. This individual will be a tireless champion for community impact, combining a deep passion for social change with the executive acumen necessary to drive resource development and operational excellence. The President serves as the face of the organization, responsible for building high-level corporate partnerships, fostering a culture of philanthropy, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of UWSC’s initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Strategic Vision: Lead the organization through a process that sets the organization’s strategy for years to come and ensures buy-in from the board and staff.
  • Community Engagement: Build trusted relationships across business, government, and non-profit organizations in order to influence community-level outcomes.

Resource Development and Fundraising

  • Fundraising Growth: Identify and pursue partnerships with new corporate partners in order to increase revenue driven by workplace giving campaigns.
  • Donor Pipeline: Expand the donor base beyond traditional workplace giving.

Financial Management and Operations

  • Fiscal Stewardship: Exercise high-level financial acumen, managing complex budgets, financial reporting, and ensure the highest standards of nonprofit accounting.
  • Operational Efficiency: Leverage technology and modern business practices to improve internal systems and organizational transparency.
  • Governance: Partner effectively with the volunteer Board to strengthen governance, manage leadership transitions, and support board development.

Personnel and Culture

  • Culture and Talent Development: Develop and foster a culture that will attract, retain, and grow a high-performing, results-driven, professional team.
  • Change Management: Guide the organization through structural change, new funding models, and evolving community expectations.

Professional Qualifications & Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, high-energy leader. Specifically, the candidate will possess:

  • Local Economic Acumen: Understanding of the local economy, notably the fastest-growing industries (aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, and technology).
  • Fundraising Success: Demonstrated success securing significant philanthropic, corporate, and institutional financial support.
  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to translate broad community goals into tactical operational milestones.
  • Communication Excellence: Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills.
  • Board Governance Experience: Experience working with high-level boards to ensure strong governance, accountability, and leadership alignment.
  • Financial Expertise: Strong business acumen with the ability to manage multi-million dollar budgets and ensure transparency.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (Advanced degree in Non-Profit Management or Business preferred).
  • Executive Experience: Previous executive-level experience in a nonprofit or complex corporate environment is highly desired.

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $175,000 with the opportunity to earn annual incentive-based bonuses. The role is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, four weeks of PTO, and contributions to a 401(k) retirement plan.
