Position Summary 

The Philanthropy Manager will lead efforts to cultivate, manage and grow the organization’s donor base. Directly contribute to major gifts and philanthropic fund development for United Way of Palm Beach County through major gift solicitation, high donor matching grants, and maintain long-term financial support. The role will collaborate with senior leadership and other teams to execute campaigns, develop philanthropic partnerships, and manage donor relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Fundraising Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual and long-term goals.
  • Identify new opportunities for fundraising through events, campaigns, grants, and partnerships.
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising campaigns to optimize strategies and improve results. 
  • Responsible for research regarding current and prospective donors and developing a strategic prospect plan. 
  • Prepare Tocqueville reports and lead KPI tracking and projections. Provide reports to Director of philanthropy and  SVP of Philanthropy and Pledge Processing and collaborate with Resource Development, Finance, IT, and Operations teams to ensure data integrity. 

Donor Engagement & Stewardship:

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. 
  • Solicit donations and cultivate relationships with donors to develop, secure, upgrade, and maintain gift income sources. 
  • Develop and execute donor engagement and stewardship plans to ensure consistent and effective communication.
  • Oversee donor recognition programs, ensuring that contributions are acknowledged appropriately.

Campaign & Event Management:

  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives to engage donors and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with marketing and communications teams to create materials that promote giving opportunities.
  • Track and analyze campaign performance, ensuring targets are met and opportunities for improvement are identified. 
  • Create content for Tocqueville Society newsletters and community donors. Deliver timely and mission driven outreach communications to Major Gift donors and prospects (letters, cards, emails, presentations, media, etc.)
  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Major Gift donor and prospect meetings.

Team Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Work closely with senior management and board members to align fundraising activities with organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, communications, and program teams, to ensure a coordinated approach.
  • Lead and mentor any support staff, interns, or volunteers involved in fundraising and donor management. 
  • Leverage analytical skills to improve efficiencies and develop donor cultivation strategies, leadership step-up with measurable outcomes
  • Manage Tocqueville Society/Major gift events, tracking and reporting, including planning, communicating, operating, and financial reporting and vendor payments. 
  • Identify and secure UWPBC step-up from Leadership to Tocqueville-level giving efforts. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within UWPBC to support team, volunteers, cabinets, societies, and impact groups 

Database Management & Reporting:

  • Proactively update and maintain accurate records of donor information and Major Gift reporting using CRM systems.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on fundraising progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards related to fundraising and donations.

Other:

  • Assist, as assigned by management, with the organization’s disaster response efforts.
  • Perform other duties as opportunities are presented and/or assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, business, or a related field preferred or equivalent related business experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in philanthropy, fundraising, or a related role within a nonprofit or similar organization.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, donor databases, and MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of fundraising regulations, ethical standards, and best practices.
  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines 
  • Strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Must be flexible to change, able to work independently and have strong problem-solving skills 
  • Must provide excellent customer service to donors and prospects.
