Position Objective: The Marketing and Events Coordinator supports United Way of Kennebec Valley’s (UWKV’s) marketing, communications, and event planning efforts. This position is responsible for producing and distributing marketing materials, coordinating UWKV’s presence on social media and the website, and assisting with the planning and execution of events that promote the organization’s mission. The Coordinator works closely with all departments to help increase public awareness, stakeholder engagement, and participation in UWKV programs and fundraising campaigns.

Responsibilities:

-Marketing & Communications

  • Implement year-round marketing and communication efforts across multiple platforms
  • Design and produce clear, effective marketing collateral (e.g., newsletters, brochures, invitations, social media graphics, flyers, videos, letters, ads)
  • Create content for campaign messaging and monthly communications
  • Maintain and update UWKV’s and Impact2032’s websites with current content
  • Monitor and schedule social media content across UWKV’s channels
  • Collect and share stories from local residents and partner programs to showcase UWKV’s impact
  • Prepare press releases and coordinate media outreach and interviews as needed
  • Prepare talking points for public-facing events
  • Follow the progress of United Way Worldwide (UWW) in branding, marketing, and communications tools, and research, leverage, and notify staff of that branding
  • Track basic digital marketing metrics such as social media engagement and email campaign performance

-Event Coordination

  • Plan and execute UWKV events, including but not limited to: Golf Scramble, Pacesetter Breakfast, Campaign Kickoff, Campaign Celebration, Tocqueville Dinner, and the Impact2032 Summit
  • Coordinate event logistics such as registration, signage, décor, promotion, and volunteer support
  • Liaise with vendors and partners to ensure successful event delivery
  • Help track sponsorships and coordinate sponsor recognition efforts

-Administrative & Organizational Support

  • Actively participate in community events to increase UWKV’s presence through networking, prospecting, and relationship building
  • Build and sustain positive, productive relationships with community and business leaders, donors, volunteers, and staff
  • Provide back-up to other staff members by answering the telephone, greeting visitors, routing calls and handling a variety of inquiries, as needed
  • Support an organizational culture of integrity, transparency, service and professionalism. Model behavior consistent with the mission and purpose of the United Way
  • Maintain strict privacy and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Fulfill other duties and special projects as assigned by the President & CEO

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of one year experience in marketing, communications or event coordination

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Experience with graphic design tools (Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop preferred)
  • Familiarity with website and social media management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic design/editing software
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • A team player with the ability to collaborate across departments and with diverse stakeholders
  • Fluent in the English language, both oral and written
  • Ability to understand and commit to the mission of United Way
  • Access to reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

  • Sedentary position 75% of the time
  • Keyboarding/typing
  • Occasional light to moderate lifting (less than 50 pounds)
  • Ability to set up and break down meeting sites or presentations

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to office work environment conditions. Internally controlled working environment with little or no hazardous conditions (e.g., fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat/cold conditions, vibrations, and/or airborne particles) in normal work location. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Participation in early morning, evening and weekend meetings and events is required. The employee will frequently be required to utilize own transportation to travel throughout the Kennebec Valley region to visit with stakeholders. The employee will also be required to occasionally attend meetings and events out of the area.

Physical demands include:

  • Remaining stationary approximately 80% of the time.
  • Operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Communicating information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
  • Moving about the office and in the community.
  • Moving boxes or supplies up 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
