About Learn with Playgroup: Learn with Playgroup is a free research-based learning experience for parents and their children ages 0-5 in Weber County. According to the Utah State Board of Education, two-thirds of children in Weber County do not attend preschool, making the first day of kindergarten their first day in a formal classroom setting. Learn with Playgroup helps children prepare for kindergarten and academic success by giving parents and their children the chance to attend a free two-hour playgroup each week. Parents and their children participate in guided play, stories, art, and some structured group activities. The experience exposes children to basic pre-K learning opportunities and increased socialization. Learn with Playgroup also offers social support for parents, provides them with information on community resources, and increases their involvement in their children’s education and development.

Goal: United Way of Northern Utah (UWNU) is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual who is passionate about Early Childhood Education to serve as the Learn with Playgroups (LWP) Program Coordinator. The Learn with Playgroup program is a community-based program that leverages volunteers and community support which means that developing and maintaining community partnerships is an integral part of this position. This position will also focus heavily on growing our school-based Playgroup model as well as supporting our overall LWP program.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

  • Coordinate LWP groups and events with school admin, including principals, Community School Coordinators, etc.
  • Punctually attend and actively participate in all required activities, events, meetings, and training representing United Way of Northern Utah in a positive and productive role.
  • Lead recruitment efforts to increase engagement and involvement of families within the service area of focus, including tracking and following up on needs-based referrals.
  • Coordinate intake of families including assigning families into appropriate playgroups.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with schools and Ogden school district.
  • Support AmeriCorps members in managing families in school-based playgroups
  • Work with LWP Manager to secure additional schools where playgroups can be hosted to further grow the LWP program.
  • Collaborate with internal programs such as other early childhood programs, marketing, and the data team.
  • Support LWP Manager with overall program coordination and management especially in helping to support and supervise AmeriCorps members.

Continuous Improvement & Data Tracking

  • Support the LWP Manager in gathering, inputting, and analyzing data on family engagement and program effectiveness
  • Assist and support the LWP Manager with tracking outcomes and performance measures and use information and progress towards outcomes and performance measures to inform program changes.
  • Support the LWP Manager in using Common Core State Early Learning Standards to inform the curriculum that will prepare students to be successful on PEEP Assessments.

  • Tech/Data Proficiency: Comfort with Microsoft 365, Google Suite, and tracking, managing, and analyzing program data using tools like Excel, databases, and data entry systems.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to troubleshoot issues, resolve conflicts, and adapt to changes quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Open to Feedback: Encourages a feedback-rich environment by soliciting input and fostering open communication within the team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of post-secondary education/training or equivalent experience in related field (child development, human services, social work, or related field.).
  • 1 year project management experience
  • Ability to regularly travel throughout UWNU service area and occasionally work evenings and weekends
  • Submit and pass a full background check as required for program compliance (process to be completed before onboarding with UWNU)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of post-secondary education/training or equivalent experience in related field (child development, human services, social work, or related field.).
  • Knowledge of infant and child development, parent-child attachment, elementary education, and/or family studies
  • Experience in providing services to culturally and economically diverse populations.
  • Experience with AmeriCorps program
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish

Compensation:

Wage: $18.00 - 20.00/hour based on experience and qualifications.

Benefits: Sick and vacation leave, paid holidays, 403(b) match up to 10% after 1 year

Hours: Part-time, non-exempt, 20-25 hours per week. United Way hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Work hours are subject to change based on United Way events and activities happening in the community.

Location: Ogden, Utah (work at UWNU headquarters in Ogden and on-site at various schools in Ogden School District)
