General Description: This position is responsible for assisting Veterans enrolled in housing subsidy programs with achieving successful housing stability outcomes by providing assistance with navigating resources and ensuring timeliness of rent payments. 

Primary Job Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Ensure program participant is meeting the goals established in their Housing Stability Plan.
  2. Process financial assistance for timely rental payment for up to 50 subsidy recipients. 
  3. Compile necessary documentation throughout participants program enrollment. 
  4. Document any changes in program requirements, income, utility allowances, and rental agreements. 
  5. Update Housing Stability Plan with any appropriate modifications to promote readiness for housing self-sufficiency.
  6. Communicate with internal and external partners including case managers, property managers, and landlords regarding any changes to the rental payment distribution or documentation related to the housing unit. 
  7. Ensure participants are following program requirements and standards at all times. 
  8. Update the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) with accurate data. 
  9. Ensure timeliness of rental subsidy payments and that required deadlines are met for document recertification. 

Other Job Duties:

  • Communicate with participants via phone, video, or in-person on a regular basis.
  • Make appropriate referrals to services in the community. 
  • Communicate with members of the United Way finance department.
  • Track all client communication, rental payments, and changes to their living situation. 
  • Work collaboratively within veteran system of care with case management and partner agency personnel.
  • Attend required project-related meetings and special events.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.

Supervises: This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Driving throughout Broward and Miami-Dade Counties for UWBC business is required
  • Must pass FL Background check
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Maintain vehicle liability insurance for personal vehicle


 

Education &Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience providing support for low-income housing programs or similar populations or programs. 
  • College degree in relevant field (social work, human services, finance) or equivalent relevant professional experience. 
  • Knowledge of rental housing, application, and leading processes. 
  • Experience utilizing applicant tracking system sand other computer applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to learn client tracking systems.
  • Knowledge and skill in varied job readiness, preparation, and retention activities (tailored resume building, interviewing, and workplace performance).
  • Veteran, or understanding of Veteran experiences.

Environment & Physical Demands: The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned). Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds.

Physical demands includesitting and/or standingfor extended periodsof time, bending,lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer. Demands also involve protracted concentration.
