Role Summary
The Grants Development Coordinator plays a vital role in securing funding that fuels United Way’s mission. This position is responsible for researching, writing, and managing grant proposals that align with organizational goals and community priorities. The Coordinator collaborates with staff, community partners, and funders to build strong cases for support, ensure compliance with grant requirements, and demonstrate measurable impact. This role combines strategic research, persuasive writing, and relationship-building to strengthen United Way’s ability to create lasting change.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research and Development
Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, and corporate sponsors
Analyze funding trends and opportunities that align with organizational goals and community needs
Write compelling grant proposals that include detailed narratives using community and program data, project budgets, and measurable outcomes
Collaborate with program staff to gather data and articulate the impact of proposed initiatives
Input and maintain accurate information on assigned accounts using CRM system
Monitor and track grant application deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance
Prepare and submit required progress reports, ensuring timely and accurate communication with funders
Maintain detailed records of grant activities, including submissions, awards, and outcomes
Use evaluation findings to refine future proposals and communicate the organization’s impact
Community Engagement
Build and maintain relationships with funders, donors, and community partners to enhance fundraising opportunities
Assist in planning and executing fundraising events and engagement initiatives
Represent the organization at public events, advocacy efforts, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and build partnerships
Additional Responsibilities
Provide support to other departments and core functions of United Way including operations, marketing, and community impact to advance our mission
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience)
Five (5) years of professional experience in grant writing and management
Proven record of securing, renewing, and expanding grant funding
Demonstrated ability to create compelling cases for support using data and storytelling
Experience with account management, sales, or donor stewardship

Grant Writing & Research: Skilled in identifying opportunities and writing persuasive proposals
Fundraising Strategy: Ability to support resource development efforts, build relationships, and contribute to fundraising initiatives
Project Management: Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and ensure compliance
Relationship Building & Communication: Effective at building trust with funders, partners, and internal teams
Analytical Thinking: Capacity to evaluate opportunities, analyze data, and demonstrate outcomes
Technical Proficiency: Competent in CRM, grant management systems, and office software
Adaptability & Resilience: Comfortable navigating shifting priorities and persisting through challenges
Physical Requirements and Travel
The ability to meet standard physical demands of an office environment, including prolonged periods of computer use. Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. Some local travel is expected.

Boise, Idaho; offering the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
Competitive Package
This is a full-time exempt level position with a competitive annual salary range starting at $52,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, and a retirement match.
