Grants and Resource Development Project Manager

The Grants and Resource Development Project Manager is part of the Resource Development team and works closely with the Associate Director of Grants, other departments, donors, and volunteers while holding true to UWABC’s long-term strategic vision.
Position responsible for supporting the growth of the grants portfolio, managing UWABC’s direct mail campaign, engaging individual donors through an affinity group, and supporting the Resource Development department with various projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Associate Director of Grants (ADG) with grant writing, management, reporting
- Conduct research to identify potential funding opportunities aligned with organizational goals
- Support the ADG with drafting, editing, and submitting compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry
- Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, ensuring timely submissions and follow-ups
- Monitor grant budgets and prepare progress reports for funders as required
- Collaborate with program teams to gather data and outcomes for grant reporting
Manage Direct Mail program
- Coordinate the development and execution of the annual direct mail campaign
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely production and distribution of appeals
- Contact vendor to obtain updated addresses for donors and update data in CRM
- Analyze campaign results and recommend strategies for improvement
Affinity Group Leadership
- Manage one donor affinity group by providing leadership, strategy development, and event execution
Lead All Donor Acknowledgements
- Prepare personalized thank-you letters for donors per the timeline and UWABC brand standards
- Update digital acknowledgement templates annually
- Work with Resdev team to secure volunteer signatures
- Oversee donor acknowledgement SOP
Portfolio Support for Resource Development Staff
- Assist other Resource Development staff with updating donor profiles, conducting donor research, and developing donor packets for individual donor visits (portfolios)
- Support team with event planning and stewardship activities
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by supervisor
- Work cross-departmentally to address time-sensitive priorities effectively
- Participate in United Way events and experiences as scheduled or requested

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector related to grant coordination, fundraising, and project coordination; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent editing skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
- Commitment to UWABC's guiding principles and ability to model those principles
Technical Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements
- Proficient with computers and software, including Google Suite and MS Office
- Ability to learn and use a variety of other software platforms (e.g., Zoom, Asana, CRM)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, maneuver complex work environments, engage in planning and problem-solving, and execute details
- Demonstrated ability to use discretion and independent judgment and/or action in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Ability to communicate (oral and written) with coworkers, donors, vendors, service providers, and the community in a clear, service-oriented, and professional manner
- Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Holds self and other team members accountable for achieving results
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy

This position is exempt from overtime regulations. This position is based in our office in Asheville, NC for at least 70% of the schedule. After an orientation period and if the work allows, this position may choose to work remotely for up to 30% of the schedule.

Hiring Range and Benefits: $50,000 to $55,620 annually plus full benefits, including paid vacation, sick and personal leave; employer contributions to 401(k), contributions to health, dental, and vision insurance benefits and self-care fund, life and disability insurance, and coaching and support
UWABC covers 100% of employee medical, dental, vision, short/long-term, and group term life insurance premiums and a majority of dependent premiums. We also contribute funds to a Health Reimbursement Account among other benefits.
