General Description: Leads grant writing, program planning, data collection, program analysis and evaluation, and presentation of results related to United Way of Broward County’s (UWBC) Community Impact work.   

Primary Job Responsibilities & Duties: 

  1. Performs the programmatic grant acquisition process through grant identification, writing, and submission, workings with internal subject matter experts.
  2. Designs, develops, and establishes the evaluative criteria or process for collecting the required program metrics, reporting requirements, and other quality grant outputs and outcomes, as well as compliance requirements for each awarded grant, utilizing prior program performance and identified best practices. 
  3. Determines Community Impact needs through analyzing various community assessments, establishes baseline data for shared objectives, summarizes the data, and contributes to the impact of community partnerships and strategies.
  4. Works with both program staff and service providers to ensure appropriate data is being collected, measured, and communicated for accuracy of establishing baselines and gathering data, outcomes, and reporting results.   
  5. Supports program staff in using data for decision making by identifying data needs, producing data analyses, and incorporating staff input into ultimate visualization of program initiatives or pilots and strategic planning. 
  6. Conducts research on programs, initiatives, best, emerging, and evidence-based practices, tools for the output and outcome of programs, etc. 
  7. Assists with the facilitation of developing and implementing new program models to establish best/promising practices and evaluating them post implementation.
  8. Prepares, launches, analyzes, and writes a report on findings of internal and external stakeholder surveys for organizational quality assurance and strategic planning.
  9. Works with Compliance and Quality Assurance team to prepare from start to finish the procurement process of providers and programming, including the evaluation and notice of award of submitted proposals, in collaboration with Community Impact team members and external stakeholders.
  10. Works with Compliance and Quality Assurance team to ensure United Way of Broward County maintains accreditation through Council on Accreditation (COA) and prepare for internal audits for programmatic and regulatory compliance.

Other Job Duties: 

  • Collaborates with internal team members to write Request for Applications (RFA) and Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, drafting grant/application narratives, preparing budgets, and other required documents for submission to funders. 
  • Develops and implements procedures to increase and maintain data integrity, monitoring program outcomes.
  • Ability to gather complex data and translate the key information into concise, simple and easily understandable charts, analyzing impact on community indicators.
  • Demonstrates success in using statistical modeling to analyze and interpret data, especially for analyzing outcome performance of funded programs.
  • Conducts background literature searches to identify best practices, benchmarks, outcome measures and model programs, providing recommendations to staff. 
  • Conducts periodic internal and external trainings to instruct, assist, and report on program evaluation, research trends, and promising models and practices.
  • Provides training and technical assistance.
  • Responsible for ensuring internal adherence to model fidelity when United Way is involved in any type of evidence-based project. 
  • Develops and utilizes logic models, SWOT Analysis, and other tools to further efforts through accreditation, initiatives, pilot projects, strategic planning, etc.
  • Facilitates COA activities i.e. reporting, drafting, and reviewing policies and procedures, staff training requirements, performance and quality improvement (PQI), etc., to enable quality assurance of COA standards and continued organizational accreditation.
  • Assists with all internal audits and monitoring's conducted by external auditors and funding sources to ensure regulatory and programmatic compliance.
  • Works with Contracts and Quality Assurance team to effectively coordinate and manage the Community Impact procurement process, including analysis of subject matter and synthesis of information, meeting management tools, notices, agendas, manuals, drafting of materials to be considered, minutes, fact sheets, statistics, etc.in collaboration with other internal team members and external stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.

Education & Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree in Human Service related field. Doctoral degrees preferred. 
  • Minimum of four years relevant experience in grant writing, planning, evaluation, and research, preferably in Human Service industry.  Equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted.  
  • Proficiency required in MS Word, Excel and other related computer programs. 
  • Highly proficient and knowledgeable in the use of statistical analysis software and other data collection and analysis tools (for example: Qualtrics, Tableau)
  • Prior experience leading programmatic grant acquisition process is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledgeable in research design as well as descriptive and inferential statistical analysis methods required.
  • Prior experience and certification in project management e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PMP, etc. preferred.

Environment & Physical Demands: The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned).  Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer.  Demands also involve protracted concentration.
