General Description: The Housing Manager is responsible for overseeing compliance with housing rules and policies, overseeing Veteran’s needs are properly addressed, documenting all activities and interactions in a residential housing setting. 

Primary Job Responsibilities & Duties: 

  1. Client Relations:
    1. Conducting Daily Check-ins with clients. 
    2. Responding to client inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
    3. Resolving disputes between clients when necessary. 
  1. Communication
    1. Responding promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
    2. Responding to all communications promptly and based on the level of urgency.
    3. Communicating at shift change happenings that occurred during the shift and any other interactions to the case manager, other Housing Manager, Director and/or other staff.
    4. Immediately communicating with the Case Manager regarding unusual circumstances, incidents, inebriated clients, clients who break curfew, or any emergency and documenting the information in the affected client(s) chart. 
    5. Contacting emergency services e.g. 911, law enforcement, Mobile Response, BSO’s Co-Responder Program, poison control, etc., as appropriate.
    6. Fostering a positive work and living environment and promoting teamwork and collaboration.
  1. Compliance and Regulation:
    1. Implementing and enforcing housing policies and procedures and Federal and State Regulations pertaining to the housing program; ensuring programmatic compliance.
    2. Drug and/or Alcohol testing clients as appropriate.
    3. Understand and ensure that accreditation standards are being upheld and create solutions when discrepancies are identified.
  1. Reporting and Documentation:
    1. Documenting all activities in the respective client’s chart, including daily check-ins, breaking of curfew, drug and/or alcohol testing and outcomes.
    2. Developing incident reports immediately following the incident and when the client has been determined to be safe.
    3. Assessing clients to determine if they need to be drug and/or alcohol tested and following through with the testing, as appropriate.
    4. Ensure clients sign in and out at the office each time they arrive to or leave from the premises, respectively. 
  1. Other Job Duties: 
  1. Ensure clients maintain facility common areas clean and their assigned unit.  
  2. Other duties as assigned to support the needs of the facility and the organization.
  3. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
  4. Due to the leadership role United Way is called upon to play in the community, particularly during times of crisis, it is the expectation that all United Way staff will be fully engaged in the organization's crisis plan and response efforts.

Education & Experience: 

  1. Associates degree in social work, psychology or related field preferred with two years of experience or High School Diploma with four years of related experience.
  2. Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  3. Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  4. Strong organizational and people skills required.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  6. Must be self-motivated, compassionate and have a positive attitude 
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and managing different software platforms.
  8. MUST be able to work evenings and weekends.

Environment & Physical Demands: The environment is climate controlled (i.e., heated and air-conditioned).  Lighting is adequate through overhead lighting as well as windows and blinds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical demands include sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, bending, lifting approximately 25 pounds, regular use of the telephone, copier, fax and computer.  Demands also involve protracted concentration.
