Position Summary:
The United Way Financial Stability Manager develops and oversees the programs and services United Way offers to reduce the racial wealth gap. This is a pivotal role in organizing and overseeing free tax preparation events and initiatives, aimed at helping individuals and families access essential tax services, tax credits, and financial education. This individual will collaborate with various partners and volunteers to ensure the successful execution of tax preparation programs that benefit our community. The Financial Stability Manager is responsible for building and implementing a strategic plan that focuses on increasing the number of tax returns filings and ITIN application submissions for low-income community members.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
· Program Planning and Coordination:
o Plan, coordinate, and execute free tax preparation program in accordance with United Way guidelines and goals.
o Collaborate with partner organizations, community groups, and volunteers to ensure seamless program delivery.
o Work closely with the Director of Impact and Director of Operations to implement and oversee a detailed program schedule and budget.
o Monitor the program budget and ensure program schedule is on track with both deliverables and budget.
o Lead and/or coordinate comprehensive training for free tax preparation services and/or financial resilience workshops.
· Community Engagement:
o Foster and maintain cross-sector community partnerships (i.e. other nonprofits, government, and business partners).
o Implement marketing and outreach strategies to raise awareness about free tax preparation services and available credits, especially targeting low-income individuals and families.
o Utilize various channels such as social media, community events, and partnerships to promote tax assistance programs.
o Outreach to organizations with shared values or missions to promote services to individuals and families they serve. This may also include outreach at community events.
· Volunteer and Site Management:
o Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to provide accurate tax assistance.
o Manage volunteer schedules and provide ongoing support to volunteers. throughout the tax season.
o Manage and support the sub-granted partner sites (if applicable, Family Resource Centers) contracted to provide free tax preparation services.
· Client Assistance:
o Assist clients in understanding tax credits, deductions, and eligibility criteria.
o Address client inquiries and concerns related to tax preparation services.
o Provide/coordinate free tax preparation services and financial education for eligible individuals and families/priority populations.
· Reporting and Compliance:
o Ensure that tax preparation services comply with IRS regulations and standards.
o Conduct quality checks on tax returns to minimize errors.
o Maintain accurate records of program participants, services provided, and outcomes achieved.
o Compile and submit necessary reports and documentation to United Way and relevant agencies, especially regarding grant and funding opportunities.
