POSITION SUMMARY (Hybrid, 3 days in office - Alexandria, VA)

As the Financial Analyst, you will assist the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and the CFO to track and assess financial outputs and services that United Way Worldwide finance division gives to our internal customers to maximize customer satisfaction and create opportunities for efficiency and growth. By developing, updating, and leveraging forecasts and budgets, you are constantly gathering relevant data and providing insights on financial projections that will support UWW’s financial decisions. In addition, you will use financial models to simulate different scenarios and provide reporting to various stakeholders showing the impact of various factors on our organization’s financial performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level: 

  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to provide insights for decision-making
  • Generate monthly financial activity reports and provide analytical insights on variances to expected 
  • Collaborate with various internal UWW departments to analyze financial data and performance. 
  • Assist in budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic planning processes.
  • Ability to utilize NetSuite (or similar cloud-based enterprise software system) for data mining and report creation.
  • Support and assist with the monthly financial reporting and financial/business analysis as requested

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements include: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience working as a financial analyst or relevant professional experience. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and consultatively across all functions, proactively identifying trends and making recommendations based upon data and analysis.
  • Proven analytical and financial modeling skills, including experience working with financial reporting systems (NetSuite experience a plus) and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, excellent customer service skills, solid financial reporting knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Smartsheet and advanced Excel skills.
  • Prior experience working independently and taking initiative, while also functioning productively within a team.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a fluid environment
  • Articulate communications skills to clearly convey financial concepts to internal teams.
  • Perform effectively in an environment with flexibility, motivation, and enthusiasm.

SALARY STATEMENT

The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $75,000 to $80,000 per year. Salaries are determined by several factors including applicant’s knowledge, ­­­skills, experience, position, equity, and market.
