Job Title: Family Support AdvocateReporting To: Senior Manager, Community Programs Department: 211OC Position: Full-time/Non-Exempt

Purpose of Position

Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Community Programs, the Family Support Advocate (FSA) is part of the collaborative within the Families and Communities Together (FaCT) grant. The FSA is responsible for providing comprehensive case management and family advocacy services to clients who may or may not have experienced domestic violence. The FSA is responsible for screening clients, ensuring participants access services, follow up with participants, as needed, complete pre- and post-assessment utilizing the Family Development Matrix (FDM) within the FaCT platform, perform home visits when necessary, participate in outreach events, work closely with internal and community partners in other Social Services Agencies, and prepare and submit data and reports as required by grants.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide family advocacy by linking families to internal and external community agencies for appropriate resources.
  • Provide family case management to ensure family’s linkage and referral to services.
  • Assist individuals with the completion of registration paperwork.
  • Ensure all documentation and assessments are completed and entered into corresponding databases (i.e., VistaShare) within designated time limits.
  • Perform home visits, when necessary, with social workers and as allowed by direct supervisor.
  • Present cases in weekly Case Management Team (CMT) meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal programs, agency partners, social workers, and with community-based agencies for service delivery.
  • Periodic check-ins with Site Supervisor for OCUW/211OC updates, etc. as needed.
  • Flexible schedule required to participate in community outreach events.
  • Provide support for on-site staff as needed.
  • Attend program and agency staff meetings.
  • Submit a quarterly success or impact story to FaCT.
  • Abide by professional confidentiality guidelines by only sharing client information within the organization when it meets the client's need.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements /Technical Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in behavioral science, related field, or commensurate work experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
  • Two years of experience in case management with at risk children and families.
  • One year of knowledge in the child welfare system preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources and familiarity to utilize resource linkages in Orange County.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, a good listener, proactive, and team player
  • Valid class C license.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues and challenges of family violence in the community.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel and working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation.
  • Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post-hire.

Work Schedule

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Monday and Thursday: 10:30 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Nights and weekends, as needed

Compensation

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour. Competitive benefits.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, records, and office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs, and constantly positions self to maintain computers in the office, including under the desks. The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers and customers who have inquiries about our business operations and the community we service; therefore, the person must be able to exchange accurate information. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
