PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Encore Volunteer Program, sponsored by United Way of the CSRA, is part of the AmeriCorps Seniors Program, one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation for people ages 55 and over. We connect older adults with local organizations to address community needs. Our Encore Program leverages the skills of volunteers to effectively meet these needs.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direct supervision of the Encore Volunteer Coordinator, the Encore Volunteer Specialist will support all aspects of the program and office operations, with a focus on clerical, administrative, and related duties. This role is essential for maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of the Encore Volunteer Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Encore Volunteer Coordinator in recruiting, orienting, and placing volunteers.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with volunteers.
- Support the Encore Volunteer Coordinator in all program aspects, including special events, trips, and other activities.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulations and guidelines.
- Manage grant reports, reimbursement files, and program statistical information to meet audit and review requirements.
- Assist in preparing newsletters and updating the website and other media resources.
- Provide telephone counseling and support for volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferably, two years of administrative assistant or office experience.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with older adults, individuals with sight and hearing impairments, and people from diverse economic, social, and cultural backgrounds, with an emphasis on seniors.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with remote work tools is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Maintains a 20-hour workweek.
- Reports to the Encore Volunteer Coordinator.
- Based at the First Stop location at 1765 Broad Street, Augusta, GA.
- Attendance at resource events is required, including the ability to set up at event locations.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Participation in sponsor convening provided by AmeriCorps is preferred.
