At United Way Space Coast, we’re looking for an experienced, results-driven leader to direct our annual campaign strategy and grow long-term donor relationships. You’ll work closely with employee campaign managers, corporate partners, and local leaders to generate support that fuels our mission in education, health, and financial stability.

This is a high-impact leadership role that requires strategic thinking, confident communication, and an inspiring presence throughout the community.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Director, Resource Development, is responsible for resource development at United Way Space Coast.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the county-wide campaign – Implement a comprehensive strategy for our annual campaign and corporate engagement efforts.
  • Cultivate major partnerships and donors – Manage a portfolio of key accounts and lead high-level donor engagement efforts, including leadership giving and sponsorships.
  • Develop and lead a strong team – Oversee and grow the resource development (relationship management) team through recruiting, coaching, and accountability.
  • Be a strategic community connector – Represent United Way at partner meetings, campaign events, and public engagements. Build visibility and trust with key stakeholders.
  • Harness data and insight – Use our CRM and reporting tools to guide strategy, analyze trends, and report on impact and progress.
  • Public Speaking – Effectively communicate United Way’s value, brand promise messaging, and enhance donor experiences.
  • Innovate and grow – Develop new business, deepen donor engagement strategies, and support long-term sustainability planning.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of United Way experience in fundraising preferred, sales, or nonprofit development (including at least 2 years managing people or strategy).
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding fundraising goals.
  • Strong ability to communicate and connect with corporate leaders, donors, and community members alike.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong time management, organization, and follow-through.
  • Comfort with donor databases (ANDAR experience preferred), campaign planning, and public speaking.
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required (about 40% in-county travel).
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends for accounts and events.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties

Environment, Physical Activity, and Mental

The location for this position is an open office that is clean and comfortable and drives approximately 60% of the time.

  • The position is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he/she is free to move about at will and may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc.
  • The incumbent while performing this position spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting, and carrying (up to 25 pounds), seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.
  • The incumbent for this position may operate any or all the following: automobile, telephone, cellular telephone, copy, fax machines, calculator, personal computer, related printers, and office equipment specific to communication functions.
