SALARY RANGE: $49,000-51,500

SUMMARY:

The Director of Impact (DI) leads United Way Emerald Coast (UWEC)’s community impact strategy and initiatives, ensuring we create lasting, meaningful change in Okaloosa and Walton counties. As a key member of the leadership team, the DI inspires a culture of collaboration, equity, and accountability, positioning UWEC as a catalyst for positive transformation in our community.

In this role, the DI will build strong relationships with non-profit partners, volunteers, and community leaders, driving collective action toward a shared vision for progress. By guiding organizations through the grantmaking process, supporting their growth, and fostering cross-sector collaboration, the DI will help turn community needs into actionable solutions. With a focus on volunteer engagement, the DI creates opportunities that empower individuals and companies to make a real difference. This role also supervises and develops the Impact team, creating a high-performing cohesive group committed to UWEC’s mission.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Lead the development and execution of a strategic plan to achieve UWEC’s impact goals, aligned with community needs, equity, and best practices.
  • Serve as a member of the leadership team, helping guide organization-wide planning, communication, and culture-building.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, key issues, best practices, and research to inform investments, initiatives, and programs that improve community outcomes.
  • Track and evaluate the effectiveness of UWEC’s investments and initiatives, ensuring timely reporting on community impact and results.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the Impact team, fostering collaboration across departments and promoting professional growth.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with non-profit partners, providing guidance throughout the certification and grant processes, and leveraging UWEC’s resources to enhance their capacity and sustainability.
  • Design and deliver trainings, networking opportunities, and collaborative meetings for non-profits, businesses, volunteers, and other community stakeholders.
  • Oversee UWEC’s impact programs, direct-service initiatives, and community-based projects.
  • Identify and support volunteer engagement opportunities that align with UWEC’s strategic goals and community needs. Work with Impact team to build a diverse pool of individual and corporate volunteers, ensuring meaningful and impactful involvement.
  • Partner with Development team to support fundraising efforts for UWEC’s initiatives, including sponsorships and promoting a Fee for Service model through custom volunteer experiences.
  • Research and pursue grant opportunities aligned with goals, priorities, and organizational needs.
  • Leverage UWEC’s expertise in grants management to position the organization as a trusted resource for foundations seeking to streamline operations and maximize their community impact.
  • Provide back-office support for partner foundations, assisting with the management of their grants processes, from application to reporting, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with community leaders, foundations, corporate partners, and volunteers to expand UWEC’s influence and deepen its community impact.
  • Represent UWEC at community meetings, speaking engagements, and events to strengthen visibility and collaboration. Actively position UWEC as a dynamic, inclusive, and forward-thinking organization.
  • Collaborate with President & CEO to develop and oversee department strategies and budget.
  • Coordinate with the Development and Marketing teams to ensure consistent and compelling messaging, storytelling, and brand alignment that supports mission and impact.

  • Encourage innovation and creativity by encouraging new ways of thinking, sharing promising practices, and establishing a safe environment for risk-taking.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities as related to the duties of the position.
  • Support the organization’s disaster response efforts, when necessary.
  • Assist with other projects as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Aligned with and committed to UWEC’s mission, vision, and direction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 3 years of experience; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data tracking, CRM platforms, or grant systems preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills; experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
  • Commitment to continual learning and improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker and facilitator.
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and adaptable; able to manage multiple high-impact projects and deadlines.
  • Experience building relationships across diverse sectors and populations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and represent UWEC with professionalism and discretion.
  • Drivers’ license and reliable vehicle, or equivalent ability to travel within a 2-county region.
