Department:    Resource Development

Core Hours:     Mon – Fri; 8am-5pm

Reports to:      VP, Brand Experience & Resource Development  

Location:  Hybrid

Salary Range: $47,000-$51,000 plus benefits, based on experience

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

United Way of the Piedmont serves Spartanburg, Cherokee, & Union Counties in Upstate South Carolina. This position is located at the main office in Spartanburg, SC with opportunity to work remotely. Our mission is to connect, engage, and inspire people to transform our community. 

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Reporting into and working directly with the VP for Brand Experience & Resource Development, the Director of Grants will identify and complete applications and reporting for grants that align with the organization’s mission and impact agenda.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Grant writing and Research: 
    • Develop and submit funding proposals and grant applications to funders. 
    • Research potential funders and review opportunities to identify potential funding sources. 
    • Compile necessary information for the application process through collaboration with other employees, research, and other fact-finding actions and meetings. 
    • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals, community groups, service providers, funders, and agencies within and without our three-county footprint of Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties. 
  • Budget Management: 
    • Work with finance and program staff to develop program budgets, data, and scopes of work for grant/contract applications and proposals. 
    • Work with program and finance staff in tracking monthly expenditures related to grants/contracts, ensuring that expenditures are allowable and within grant/contract guidelines. 
  • Grant Execution: 
    • Review grant agreements/contracts, recommend changes, and review modifications prior to grant/contract execution to ensure adherence to regulations. 
    • Develop a comprehensive compliance plan for all grants and contracts. 
    • Provide guidance to staff regarding awarded terms, conditions, and regulations. 
    • Compile, prepare, and submit reports to funders with all required documentation. 
    • Ensure receipt of reimbursements from funders and coordinate payment processing with Finance Department. 
    • Work with Finance Department to support necessary audit records.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in a related field;
  • Three or more years of experience in grants management, grant administration, and/or grant writing;
  • Regular and sustained attendance required.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and access to transportation throughout the workday.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.  The employee is frequently required to reach, stoop, or kneel.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, and color vision due to computer work. May be required to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds occasionally.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  There is moderate noise associated with a business office including telephones, computer keyboards, printers, office traffic and visitors.  The work environment requires the individual to have the ability to work in a confined space and sit at a computer terminal or in conference rooms.
