We are seeking an experienced Director of Development to manage and direct fundraising efforts and donor engagement for donors who give annually and those who have made planned gifts. This position reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy and plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and fostering donor relationships. We are looking for a dynamic leader with a proven track record of fundraising success. 

Responsibilities  

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors and family foundations. 
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising performance, analyze data and trends, and make data-driven recommendations to optimize fundraising strategies and initiatives. 
  • Manage a team of Managers utilizing a Moves Management Plan. 
  • Oversee the UW Tax Credit Program and other Tax Smart Giving tools. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices in fundraising and donor stewardship. 
  • Plan, execute, and represent our society programs (some nights and weekends involved). 
  • Use donor databases to track and maintain solicitations, gifts, and donor correspondence.
    • Work with Vice President of Development and Senior Vice President of Philanthropy to establish department and individual team goals. 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of proven nonprofit fundraising and experience securing major and planned gifts. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred. 
  • Exceptional skills working with high-net-worth donors, responding to donor needs in a manner that provides high touch, personalized results.  
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to develop and implement complex fundraising initiatives. 
  • Proficiency in donor databases, fundraising, wealth screening software, and Microsoft Office suite.
