MEMBER POSITION TITLE: Digital Navigation Outreach Specialist

OVERVIEW: Techquity Wisconsin is a multi-pronged initiative aimed at addressing Wisconsin’s digital divide by supporting access to devices, internet affordability, and skilled digital navigation.

The Digital Navigator Outreach Specialist will work collaboratively with United Way Fox Cities’ Outreach & Navigation Specialist, community nonprofit partners, and volunteers to ensure all members of our community have access to the digital devices needed to flourish, and the support they need to effectively use those devices.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with planning and facilitation of device distribution events.
  • Assist clients with laptop set up, internet connectivity, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Conduct one-on-one and small group sessions to help clients navigate digital tools and resources confidently to meet the clients’ specific needs.
  • Provide orientation to the Community Upskill website for local digital skilling and upskilling.
  • Assist with outreach and follow up to device recipients for ongoing support and navigation.
  • Assist with distribution of outreach and recruitment materials.
  • Engage with local community events, promoting digital literacy resources and offering digital navigation services in a way that builds trust and rapport.
  • Attend and participate in AmeriCorps program training on a variety of topics, including program orientation all-member team training and networking opportunities, community service projects, etc. These trainings occur through a combination virtual and in-person.
  • Complete AmeriCorps paperwork, such as monthly reports, feedback surveys, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bilingual preferred – English/Spanish
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively and with a high level of professionalism with staff, community members, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Self- motivated, goal oriented, and organized – ability to get the job done.
  • Meets deadlines and completes tasks with a high degree of accuracy and dependability.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and cloud-based technology
  • Passion for helping people
  • Be 18 years or older at the beginning of their service
  • At minimum, hold a high school diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in health and human services or public health degree or related background and experience. Upper-level undergraduates with related experience are encouraged to apply.
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
  • Provide information and complete, and pass a criminal history check

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Member Term of Service: The Member’s service term will start 06/01/2026 and end on 8/31/2026. There’s flexibility with the position start date, however the position must start by or before 06/01/2026 or the time requirements and living allowance conditions will change.
  • Time Requirements: The member project will be part-time.
    • Part-time members are expected to serve 300 hours, which averages 25 hours/week during the service period; or
    • Part-time members are expected to serve 450 hours, which averages 37.5 hours/week during the service period.
  • This position will be in-person with the potential to be hybrid. Member will serve hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Members will receive a gross living allowance while serving based on total service term, which is paid on the 15th and last day of each month. Please note there will not be an additional hourly wage or salary beyond living allowance.
    • Part-time members: The gross living allowance amount for part-time (300 hours) members will be $720.59 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions); or
    • Part-time members: The gross living allowance amount for part-time (450 hours) members will be $1,080.88 per pay period (the amount listed is before tax deductions).
  • Segal Education Award upon successful completion of hourly requirement described in Time Requirements:
    • The Education Award amount for this part-time (300 hours) position is $1,565.08. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.); or
    • The Education Award amount for this part-time (450 hours) position is $1,956.35. Please note, this education award is an electronic transfer to either your educational institution, federal loan provider, etc. Members will not receive the education award via direct payment (such as check, cash, etc.).
  • Forbearance on qualified student loans while serving and interest accrual payments.
