Digital Marketing Specialist

Purpose of Position:
The Digital Marketing Specialist will develop and execute effective digital strategies to grow revenue, increase brand understanding and foster engagement with current and prospective donors, volunteers, partners and the community.
The Digital Marketing Specialist will be a strong thinker and communicator with a passion for storytelling, have a clear grasp of email marketing and digital content development, and an understanding of data-driven digital strategies. This role reports to the Marketing and Communications Director and does not manage other staff.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement digital strategies, specifically focused on increased donor acquisition, engagement and retention
- Create, test and optimize email journeys and newsletters that align with organizational goals
- Produce story-driven content for digital communications channels, including blog, website, newsletters and social media
- Build content marketing plans aligned with fundraising and volunteer goals, integrating email, blog and social media content
- Assist in creating digital assets for email, web and social platforms using templates or provided design tools
- Photography and video editing using tools like Canva, CapCut or Adobe Express for social and email content
- Maintain a digital content calendar in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Attend United Way events to create real-time social media content and post-event digital assets to promote events across social media and web platforms
- Monitor and respond to social media comments and messages, escalating to leadership as needed
- Stay informed on digital marketing trends and suggest creative improvements to enhance reach and engagement
- Conduct regular website audits to ensure content is accurate and up to date
- Implement email communications plan using deliverability best practices, including list hygiene and sender reputation management
- Track and report on basic metrics related to email, web and social media performance using tools like Google Analytics
- Analyze campaign costs, outcomes and alignment with strategic priorities to determine ROI and propose recommendations to improve performance
- Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisory team

Experience/Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree is required; a bachelor’s degree in the field of marketing, communications or public relations preferred
- Two to four years of digital marketing experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication and project management skills and ability to interact with internal and external clients
- Strong copywriting, copyediting and storytelling skills
- Familiarity with AP style
- Experience developing email campaigns and audience journeys using platforms like Constant Contact or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- Strong knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.
- Experience with videography and photography
- Experience with content management systems and platform such as WordPress
- Working knowledge of web, social media and digital advertising analytics, with the ability to translate data into clear insights and communicate results effectively, such as Google Analytics and Google AdWords
- Understanding of the various digital marketing platforms and best practices for utilization
- Understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies and best practices
- Knowledge of HTML/Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for web updates and maintenance
- Willingness to support departmental initiatives and represent the organization at United Way events outside office hours as needed
- Combination of marketing and publishing mindset; always think "customer first"
- Flexibility adjusting to unexpected assignments, difficulties and deadlines
- Openness to feedback and trying new things
- Good organizational skills and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Quick learner who enjoys staying up-to-date with digital marketing trends
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer equipment, phones, various software programs and resource file

- Ability to use good judgment and assessment techniques
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Effectively prioritizes work and establishes clear goals in coordination with supervisor
- Flexibility to work variable shifts within a hybrid, remote environment.
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening
- Staff members who drive a vehicle on United Way of Northeast Florida business must provide proof of a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record and provide proof of current automobile insurance meeting Florida minimum.
- Keep all activities in line with the core values and contribute to the positive culture of United Way of NE Florida.
- Actively participate in the broader organizational activities and be a brand steward within the community, outside agencies and/or programs to enhance United Way services to the community.
